Combo List - Kotal Kahn [Outdated] The Kotal Kahnbo Thread

If you use f2 as starter you can do
f2-f2-f2-d2 for 32% mid screen and f2-f2-f2-b122-db1 for 35% in War God.

But I'm new to MK and I've no idea how minus you can be on block before it's bad for real.

Hey guys, I have never posted in this side of the forums before because I wasn't on TYM as much during Mk9. I just wanted to give my contribution because I am loving the hell out of this big guy Kotal Khan aka ( Aztec God) :) ). I was messing around with him so far in Sun God and i found some stuff that i hope you guys find helpful. I hope in the future I can play you guys in mirrors so i can become better ,but I have horrific internet (5mb down). Anyway the list I am going to post below are all of the combos i found to have worked with Kotal. When you see the term "charge", it means that it will do that amount of damage depending on how much chaingrabs he has built up (Max being 3 obviously). Additionally, You will see i have said " With blood" at the end of some combos, this is just to indicate the damage i got after i use blood sacrifice. I did not do it for every combo due to me reading somewhere else that people are not interested in them. It would be up to you guys to activate " blood" and test.

Small Key: When you see F2 I mean to say "->+2" and B1 is "<- + 1" just to clear up confusion.

Disclaimer: If i happen to have something that is already posted on the forums, my apologies because as I said, these are discoveries. I hope I am able to edit this post to add my other findings as times goes on.

Here are my current combos: Listed with universals then Sun God.

Universal combos
Meterless
F2,F2, 2,1 airgrab 27%
F2, F2, F1,B2, airgrab 28%
F2, F2, 2,1, Sunlight (form of pressure?)

1bar
F2 , 2,1,2,1 + ex airgrab , 2,1 airgrab. 36%
F3, 4 -> Ex Sunstone ( Weird looking projectile)(Normal one is too slow) 24%
F2, F2, 2,1, ex airgrab ,2,1 airgrab, 37% ( I hate the F2, F2 starter. it is so wonky for me....)

Xray combos
f2,(2,1) (f1, b2 + Xray) - 44%

Last hit is scaled hard.
F2 , 2,1,2,1 + ex airgrab, B1,F2, chain grab 34%(1 charge) 36%(2 charges) 39% (3 charges) 18 hits but the last hit is scaled hard so no 40 :(.
f2, 2,1,2,1 + ex airgrab , f1,B2 chaingrab 35% (1 charge), 37% (2 charges), 40%(3 charges) 47%(with blood and 3 charges) .
I am starting to feel Kotal is more of a punish character then anything else in this variation...(More testing required).

I Hope this helps your guys. I want to look at the other variations a little later today but first i need to dig into more of his over bar combos , corners and then variations come later.

Update to yesterday's combos and setups:

General:
-toward+2, toward+2, back+1-2-2 xx ex antiair grab, back+1-2-2: 38%
-toward+2, toward+2, back+1-2-2 xx ex antiair grab, toward+1 back+2 xx special move: 36%, ending special is safe against good wakeups
-toward+2, toward+2, back+1-2-2 xx ex antiair grab, toward+2, down+1 xx special move: 38%, ending special is safe against good wakeups


Blood God:
-toward+1 back+2 xx damage totem, juggle down+1 xx ex antiair grab, toward+1 back+2 xx special move: 34%, ending special is safe against good wakeups

f2, f2, f2, 21 xx EN df1, b32 is 40% in all variations. I find this to be his best combo with only one meter to burn.
f2, njp, f2, f2, 21 xx df1 is 34% no meter.

f1b2 xx db1, d1 xx EN df1, f2, d2 is 39% and allows Kotal to continue pressure since he recovers so fast.

I plan to make a guide for KK in the coming months once I can get the frame data thing figured out in this game. If you've seen my Noob guide from MK9, then you know it'll be involved. I already have so much shit for this character in all variations.
 
Damage Correction to my easy Sun god combo:

1 meter 40%:
F2 b1,4 MB airgrab b1,4 sun choke (level 3).

Switch F2 for f1,b2 for a faster punish combo that is 38%

Yea that njp after f2 connects maybe 1/20 times. Im holding up and mashing 1 and still no go. rEminds me of that reptile dash whif njp.

f2,jump2,f2,f2,df1mb,f2,b12df1 for 43% at 1bar.

If you're having trouble with the neutral jump, you can actually do three f2's in a row straight away and get the same damage:
f2,f2,f2,df1mb,f2,b12df1 43%, 1bar

Sun god:
f2,f2,f2,b12db2 36% with full charge
f1b2,f2,f2,b12db2 31% with full charge

Here's an impractical just for fun, you never know though. you might be powered up in the corner once and just toss it out, easy confirm at least

 

video i made of a meterless 34% corner combo that puts them back into the corner after the anti air grab finisher. I'll probably make the meter combo next although i'm sure you guys know what to expect from the meter version.

f2 is 17 startup, -9 on block

Or at least that's what the in-game info says.

everything with a block advantage above -6 is punishable with 5 frames attacks like the low pokes. DF2 in his war god variation is -4 so if ur first hit doesnt punish make sure to cancel to df2 to be safe.

Made a list of Sun God combos for myself ending with db2 when possible. Haven't gotten a chance to use any of them in a match yet (need to upgrade to a stable pc first), but they feel executionally practical, despite 2/3 bar combos likely being very situational. All the damage values assume no buffs and level 0 god choke. Sorry for anything that was posted already.

Yeah, I just noticed that not only does df2 leave you closer with a higher frame advantage, it's a hard knockdown.
And I found a decent combo for his low string :

f34~db1 EX, f1b2~df2 (32%)

It appears that all unblockable hits don't connect while they are standing up, this applies for all chars like Jax or Shinnoks as well.

the only exceptions are EX or jacqui with high techn power-ups.

You have to meter burn it to get a true OTG. It appears situational for now.

I improved on the small frame punisher.

114~(EX)df1, f2, f1b2~df2 (40%)
114~(EX)df1, f2, b122~db1 (42%)

It looks like it might be the best damaging starter too for 1 bar. I also think there might be more potential damage here because the gravity seems a bit high. Maybe a d1 or something can fit, not sure.

Do you have an optimal combo for f1b2 or njp? I'm trying to find some but both leave me at an awkward state lol. Doing f2 after f1b2 is pretty difficult.
