Seems like we got 4 this time. Im trying to convince one of my friends to come but he looks like a no
Hey guys, it's been a while.
Would you all be interested in getting together at Algonquin's weekly fighting game club (Thursdays 5:00 pm+)? I went last night and here's all the information I could gather:
-Usually they have 2 rooms, which leads to more than enough room for an extra 2 or more set ups for us, otherwise another club has the 2nd room and it is really crammed, but people have setups in the hallway right outside the club rooms. However, after the Smash tourney is over, it dies down significantly, around like 8:30 pm.
-I talked to the guy who knows everyone, and he estimates that there are around 4 people who might be interested in playing MKX there. Unfortunately, none of them were there (probably because it was only 1 room last night), so I didn't have the chance to meet them. If we all went and assimilated the other potential 4 guys, we'd have a number of about 8 people playing NRS games. (yes please!!)
-I know @Lemon1991 is pretty good at MKX and goes there to play Guilty Gear. (come back dude! Jaqui got buffed!)
-There was also another guy I met last year who played Injustice and said he was coming to TYM more for MKX but his TYM account hasn't seen activity since May 2015 so I don't know if he still plays or goes to Algonquin. However, @Ram, I'd be down to play Injustice again, and I think @Brack1sh is too.
-They have a PS4 that nobody uses due to the club budget that they might as well use all of, although I'm not sure if its guaranteed to be always available. Also when SFV hits, people will want to be using it for that. There's no copy of MKX, but the organizer said that if I could find a cheap copy of it, the club could use it funds to grab it. This is not so much as a problem if someone has copies, but nonetheless it would be better to have a dedicated copy for the club. Since I play on PC, I can't help much in bringing things in, except my monitor.
-The overall opinion on NRS games there is pretty bad. Club contains roughly 70% Smash Bros, 15% SF4, and 15% other (anime fighters, tekken, etc). Pretty much everyone I talked to played at launch and dropped it fast, so they still think Reptile is bottom tier and stuff. They are all pretty chill guys though, except for that one dude who apparently forfeited the Smash tournament yet still put 2-1 as the score against my friend.
Options are quite limited. There was one guy who was really good at soul calibur 5 but that was last year. Never have I seen ki there either.Do they have a SoulCalibur and/or Killer Instinct (If someone has an XB1) scene too? If NRS games aren't big there, I'd like to know what other options of games that other people play there since as of late I've only been playing SoulCalibur, MK9, MKX (rarely) and KI.
I haven't played mkx in months and I've never played guilty gear. Damn I'm goodHey guys, it's been a while.
