Basically, you were pigeonholed into following a specific route in order to progress in the game. They're removing that from what I gathered.

i'm more excited baout it being more non-linear. Every game since wind waker has been more linear than the last and the only reason you don't do exactly what they tell you to do is to hunt down hearts or sub items. Bring back exploration proper and they might have a wii u sale from me.
