What's new

NRS games and it's non existent Ranked mode!

Most devs have figured out that defined "season" periods rather than an indefinite grind is more engaging for players. Also gives an excuse to give out exclusive rewards.

It'd be kinda nice if they had totally separate rankings for each character you play, and matchmaking took that into account. If you've invested a lot of time into certain characters and done well and climbed up the ladder, it sort of sucks if you decide you'd like to learn a new character. Trying to use your new character against players that would challenge/beat your comfy mains makes it tough to stick it out and actually learn/get comfortable with them. Then if you DO stick it out, you'll end up losing enough that you fall down the ladder and can't get any solid games with your mains anymore.

I don't think character leaderboards would be a bad idea either. Would generate some competition within character communities. Would be cool to see a list of winningest GL users or what have you. If this is already a thing I apologize, I dropped I2 a long time ago to go back to MKX. Still relevant though.

I think the Ranking system works its just that there is no visible promotion/demotion going on. Usually when I lose many games and go down on the ranking leaderboard I will eventually start getting matched with players that aren't that good. I then start getting my win streak again and end up climbing the leaderboards again until eventually I start getting rivals on my level and then better. A agree that a visible level indication would be cool though.
As far as I am aware, currently your rank either has almost no effect on who you get matched up against or no effect. Ranked just scales how important your wins or losses are based on the likelihood of you winning the match so if you weren't likely to win the match and you win then you will increase rank substantially. I've been matched up against literal level 2 noobs in ranked and I am almost always within the top 50 place on ranked.

Really? Granted it was a different game, but when I went from xbox to ps4 on MKX, I played nothing but noobs for the first month or so on my new PSN account. Same when I got myself the EU edition of MKX on ps4, was a TOTAL cakewalk starting fresh. The difference between my established NA and new EU account was like night and day. Now they're about the same. It might not be the same for I2, but I know fresh accounts on MKX got matched up primarily with noobs/weak players.

Hehe maybe someone can make a new account and test, but I'd be willing to bet they wouldn't face nearly as many high level players as you would on your account.

Honestly this is my only real huuuuge complaint with the game. The ranked system now is worthless and does nothing to help players level up..

I really like FIFAs seasons ranking system where you start at tier 10and the goal is to get to tier 1.. in each tier you get a fixed amount of games (i think it’s like 10 games). A win gives you 3 points, a tie 1, point and obviously a loss is 0. You have to get a certain number of points to not be relegated and and another specific higher amount of points to be promoted..

It really makes you want to grind and get better to reach tier 1

I'm sure they've atleast placed some system however I rarely feel it and it still won't prevent new players or bad players from getting matched up against the best

While we are talking about matchmaking can NRS please change it so you don't get the same people back to back? As in, you decline someone only to get matched with them again seconds later only to get matched with them a third time? Can't remember all the times that has happened all the way back to MK9.

But then, there would be tons of threads following the release of the mode, on how everyone is cheating/lag switching/rage quitting/pulling/fraudulent/boosters tryhards..

This is going to be in every game, and i for one dont play ranked in any fighter until a legit punishment system is in place for people who do such things, and those who hit 'close application.' Right now, there's no way getting around it.

Believe me, your all saving yourself stress and rage, by not having the option to play ranked.
People know this is true, because i believe even people in this thread will be the same ones ready to boost/lag/rage quit their way to the top.

Lol even Playstation Allstars Battle Royale had a better ranked system as far as rewards go. We all start with white belts and work your way to black belts. It was considered an honor to wear a black belt on your profile card and made you look kinda legit! If something like that was in Injustice (special banners/borders/icons/etc) I would be playing ranked nonstop.

I've only played 50 games so far because of this as well as not being able to decline wifi players. Losing to a tbagging 210 ping wifi Superman when his ping said 80 at first is bullshit.

I wanted to take ranked more serious when it became FT3. I managed to make it to low 600’s and couldn’t quite get any higer up. I think that’s pretty good for me considering I got a full time job, wife, two kids and a minor drinking habit. Having not played many ranked matches in awhile I figured I’d give it a whirl tonight after reading through this thread throughout today.

Here’s how it went. Mind you I’m at like rank 3000 or something, my first match is a rank 104 Black Adam. Not gonna lie I took a match off of him but an L was inevitable for me. The next was a Supergirl who quit literally before her first health bar was gone. Then on to everybody’s favorite online masher Robin. I had a 41% chance of beating this guy. He took the first match with numerous D2s after my plus frames and wake up DP’s. But I adapted and got the next two. He picks GL and takes down my Atro so I go for the mirror. 2-2 GL vs GL. Comes down to the wire and I take him down with a MB F3 in the corner FTW. Guess what happens “game session is no longer available”

The end

I was around 150 before hurricane Irma hit, then I stopped caring People fail to realize how much family and a full time job makes leveling up difficult haha

I see you guys throwing out other ideas. Look if even made a thread about this like adding multiple filters and flags with it before.

Right now I be super happy with a super basic Ranked mode to start with then they can add cool stuff as they go

They had a "skill level" on Injustice 1 on the Xbox 360. Is that what you mean?

itd go up by beating good players, wouldnt go down much if you lost to someone much higher than you, but would drop if you lost to someone way worse.

I am happy NRS listened to players and changed ranked to be FT3 in a way that simulates tournament play as close as it can be done online.

We should not definetly stop there, ranked can be a lot better.

I am pretty sure asking to implement real ranking system at this point is a little too late and we won't get it at least until MK11.

What can be still improved in Inj2? I would start by hiding your character select from opponent. Game is really matchup heavy and first match should be a blind pick. I know we can hide our cursor, but we hide it from ourselves as well and it's easy to make embarassing mistake and pick a wrong character

The other thing is ping check before match. Something is really wrong there and very often we are forced to play in laggy connection. How many times you see something like this. You are matched with wi-fi player, ping check stands that connection is quite good (70-80 ms), but as soon match starts you find yourself in lag spike avalanche (and somehow your oponnent seem like he was born to play in those conditions :)). Either this check should be more precise or always - no matter what - we should be able to decline our oponnent if he's on wireless connection.

I find it annoying that the most challenging opponents all stack up under "ranked" and I cannot rematch them more than a set amount of times. It's already hard to find decent opponents on PC, and the angry manchildren that occupy Ranked only add you to bitch at you for which move you "spam". But that's not part of my predicament against ranked.

I don't find "rank" in a game where the end goal is to kick each other's ass, important at all.
