The more I watch and hear about KI3 the more I think I should just accept that it's not my kind of game. I loved KI when I was a kid but now I'm all grown up and don't really care about swag combos anymore. I care more about what happens before and after a combo. But some of my favorite things in fighting games seem to be lackluster in KI.
First, the reset potential seems really weak considering the big chunk of the damage comes from enders. Going for a reset in KI3 = giving up 20% guaranteed damage for 30% potential but breakable damage. It makes no sense, why would I give up my ender that does the most damage to go for a 50/50 into possibly nothing if they break it? So yeah the way I see it going for resets is not practical at all in KI3. And that means come backs are going to be especially hard. Even harder than in Injustice.
And the knockdowns seem unrewarding like Alex Valle pointed out, trying to get a meaty on Saberwulf but he could just get up and start mashing right away or dash under cross-up attempts when Jago is still at the peak of his jump. Okizeme in general seems to boil down to "trade mashing" pokes hoping to get priority or baiting and punishing the wake up attack.
Oh well, I'm still curious to see how they will implement "zoners" and "grapplers" in a game where defensive/keep away strategy is frowned upon and mashing is considered a way of life. It could be interesting... We'll have to wait and see.
