On top of it, no one ever thinks how a character will play anymore, imo a good visual and abilities of character it's something that should always walk in tandem with design.
I really did liked what NRS did with Noob Saibot in MK1 and Ermac, and i really hope that for future interactions we could split characters in archtypes or sub-archtypes and juice them up with uniqueness.
Like we have
Shaolin Monks (Liu Kang, Bo' Rai Cho, Kung Lao, Kung Jin, Shujinko and Kai) which could have always fastest jab normals in the game as a trait for starters would be a good ideia and then grab their moves and see how it could be enhanced.
Gods (Raiden, Fujin Fire god Liu Kang, Kajin) Whom always have those weird gibberish when they use special moves, and i think Liu Kang it's still the worst firegod of all time, Kajin was much cooler and his special array were much better overall, he also used gibberish on specials like Fujin and Raiden did.
Special Forcers and Mercs and cops- In this line we have Sonya, Jacky, Jax, Stryker who often wear things like enhancement devices with Kano, Jarek, Mavado, Darrius and Dariu falling under the Merc Sub-Category
Cyber Ninjas - Sektor, Cyrax, Smoke, the modern ones in sub categories
Male and Female Ninjas - Scorpion, Sub-Zero Kitana Mileena etc Sub-Zero on it's own has been an archtype has there is like 3 sub-zeros ever since
Sorcerers - Shang, Quan,
Shokans and Grapplers - Goro, Sheeva, Kintaro, Gorbak - Those being always grapplers, slow but with damaging grabs and interesting twists in their design
Non Category - Nightwolf, Cage, Reiko, Kenshi, Kobra, Kabal, Havik
Demons - Drahmin (which boon hates), Kia, Jataaka and Sareena, Moloch(grappler), Baraka etc
Would be much easier to think about what they should be about rathen than just give them random specials each game, like we have now KL with air hat toss, like why?
