New 2D Fighter: "Fright Fights" will feature Dracula, Dr. Jeckyll, Mr, Hyde and More

what concept are you working with for this fighter? any unique or cool systems to generate interest outside of "famous horror fighter"?
We are definitely not trying to reinvent the wheel. After reading hundreds of forum discussions throughout the years in regard to a horror fighter... It was really clear that a majority of players would prefer standard 2D fighter with their beloved characters.

That said... One thing we are focussing on HEAVILY is the meter system. We will be detailing that over the course of the kickstarter. In short... 1 meter for EX, 2 meter for armored EX, 3 meter for blackout, 4 meter for nightmare... That will be explained soon.

Another cool feature is the blocking system (or lack thereof I should say!)
 
the idea is really cool, actually. i think it would have much better success if they twisted it a little bit and really worked on creating characters inspired by their current cast and design the art based on how killer instinct looked.
 
I'm most interested in the "ghostly" persons in the background... that their "super"? That would be sick!
That is the 4 meter nightmare. When a character activates it, different things happen with different characters. This one is the Phantom's, his nightmare shows the iconic unmasking scene from the movie... Which temporarily stuns his opponent.

Well, we are hoping to use the TYM crew to make sure it is indeed a balanced game. Hopefully many of you out there will want to be a part of that.
I am a huge fan of the premise alone. Don't know what balancing entails(like if you would have to be in cali to do it) but if I can do it from Texas count me in :D

1- let's talk. Although I'm a guitar shredder with a music degree, I have no time to produce the audio myself while programming day and night.

2- to build a balanced and tourney worthy fighter.

3- no way. We only have one character artist at the moment. I am concentrating on game logic only at the moment. The stage and UI are all dev placeholder art.

Awesome! I don't have the cash to throw at the kickatarter but good luck on the project. Any possibility of locking down some of the other Universal Studios classics like the Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mole Man, etc.?

If you are planning on using kickstarter why spend money/time getting the licenses for this stuff. Why not just use them as inspirations for new characters? Were the right very cheap due to business contacts or something?
