From a gameplay mechanics and playstyle perspective, which MK9 characters had the most unique fighting style? Consider if you've seen the things you like about that style reflected in other maybe fighting games.

Who was most innovative?

Who was most fun?

What can you say about the variation between character fighting styles in MK9?

Everyone was unique, no character in MK9 was a copy of other characters, in general everyone was unique and had beautiful things you could do with their tools until they started to get nerfed.

I'm telling you this because i played every single character for a week figuring the meta before starting using on multiplayer.

I want Kronika to step on my face
I'm having a hard time deciding who is unique because we know how most of these characters play since MK3. If a bunch of them were knew it would be easier to judge who's unique.

But still, I'd have to say Reptile, Shang Tsung and maybe Skarlet.

Meta saltmine
Tough call. I'd just say that I haven't seen anything like Soul Steal in a FG yet. So Shang is at least a strong contender, but then, I'm biased :p

reptile, he has a fucking swag dash combo, also sektor ping pong combos is so fucking swag too kinda humilliating, remember Perfect legend vs gross in st marteen

Spinal had a morphing ability in the older KI games if that's what you're referencing. Not trying to start shit though :D

I like Tekken 8
Reptile is awesome and has some of the swaggiest combos ever.
Shang Tsung is also awesome and different.
Cyrax is also very different. I never realized how unique MK characters were.
Hold dat street fighter.

Saltea Moonspell

"Mind Over Matter" I dont mind, and X dont matter
1. Cyrax
2. Kung Lao
3. Skarlet

There are other ones, but those give so much gameplay wise. They are really fun to play and high level requires tight execution.
Imo that makes them very unique/complex above the others.

Get your guns on. Sheriff is back.
Smoke's projectile teleporting opponents above me in a hit state for me to juggle was one of the most unique and incredible things I had ever seen in any fighter ever. Its why I mained him instead of Kung Lao or Sonya. It was just that fresh a tool and I still dream to this day of ways to make it work in any other fighting game without making someone broken.
