I'm pretty sure that the only cancel advantage, if any now, from regular SF would be from F213 SF, and you need to spend meter to get decent damage again. I don't think WP being cancelable, alone, is enough to make this variation competitive with Dragon's Fire; DF has better pressure and zoning, and safer meter building and chip. The meterless damage was the variation's main allure, so if you're going to be spending meter regardless, why not go DF?
Have to disagree with better zoning. Flame Fist always had better zoning than DF.

Everything else is true though.

Anyone else in europe who didnt get the update ? I havent (ps4)
you didnt get the update because its not out for SCEE... like i told the poster a few above you, they most likely rushed SCEA out because of evo but Europe will probably have to wait untill later today, or even more

This is what stops many top street fighter players from staying with NRS games. 801 Strider stopped playing with the last scorpion change.
NRS needs to take a hard look at what it means to sustain a game in the long term. MKX has amazing potential to be a great fighter and tournament favorite IF they learn to let some things rock longer and make more sensible gameplay changes instead of swinging the buff/nerf bat. Some things were definitely needed - Tanya/FF Liu/BS Shinnok/Tempest KL/HF Scorp had arguably game-breaking dirt that would've killed this game stone dead at EVO, Kitana, Shinnok (originally) and Kenshi definitely needed help - but where's common sense gameplay fixes like netcode, hitboxes, glitches (Ice Clone), useless/imbalanced variations, option selects, bad AAs, etc? Why do they have to release patches three days before a tournament that radically alter the game balance, throwing out weeks of lab work? I could see a big patch every month or two as needed, but it feels like there's no rhyme or reason half the time. Shit like that makes them look amateurish. Don't get me wrong, I love this game. As a fan going back to MK1, it's the best MK yet hands down in almost every way, and has made HUGE leaps towards MK's legitimacy as a fighter, but there's room for improvement. With that said, NRS should take a page or two from Capcom and hire more seasoned tournament players to test their games out and have input into the whole nerf/buff process, and learn to let their games breathe a little bit.

Your problem is that you think NRS is ever going to change their business model, and they're not. Street Fighter IV has outlived 4 NRS fighters now (MKvsDC, MK9, Injustice, MKX). FOUR. Some people think this is "smart business." I mean, why take pride in your product and nurture your player base when you can instead quickly push out garbage and rush to turd-polish in a 6 month timespan? We only have ourselves to blame for buying their games in the first place.

I honestly believe that 90% or so "tournament players" don't have the skills to balance in a professional capacity. I've heard so many times on TYM about "if NRS would just get tournament players to play test and have input on patches it'd be so much better."

Question: am I wrong in mentioning that most every Sub Salt board about Subs nerfs is blaming Sonicfox about how he "cried" about Sub and within a couple weeks Sub got nerf ed pretty hard?

I'm not a Sub player and kinda hate the Subzero gameplan/strategy in always needing a clone on screen, but I for one don't trust "tournament" players with a franchise game I've always loved.

However they COULD do like some of us and... make their own fucking games instead.

I'm not taking rightful blame away from NRS, they do have faults in this but I'm also not going to say "tournament" players are more capable of producing a game.
