Shoot them. Shoot them all.
People REALLY need to see this for what it really is. Forget for a moment if your a Sony fan boy or a Microsoft/Xbox fan boy. The direction that Microsoft just attempted to take the "future" of gaming is very radical and quite frankly scary. Taking away choices and freedoms IS NEVER DESIRABLE for any human or consumer. I mean...not being able to play the console WITHOUT internet is like going back 40 years as opposed to being progressive.
Look at this as if it were two different politicians (or dictators, for that matter) offering up Healthcare. Politician A is telling you this is FANTASTIC healthcare but you can only go to this ONE location, you must check in with us every 24 hours, and here, plug in this "kinect" and it must be on at all times. Politician B says "here is fantastic healthcare, you don't have to do all of that, and it's cheaper". Anyone with a brainstem will go with B.
And for the people who aren't bothered by the constant monitoring (being forced into constantly signing on, having the kinect PLUGGED IN AND ON at all times) needs to wake up. All over the news are the scandals involving the IRS abusing power, the AP being monitored by the government (which is a violation of the 4th amendment) and now this scandal with the whistleblower that fled to Hong Kong. Having your every move/use of the console monitored and stored as "data" for "market research" is VERY bad. Market research should be voluntary and should be a private study conducted among VOLUNTARY participants.
Regardless of your preference (Sony or Microsoft), this is INCREDIBLY bad business and wreaks of corporate/government control. This is why competition (cell phone providers, computer software/hardware) is always a good thing. It probably wont be long before this becomes the standard (which is frightening) it's just Microsoft jumped the gun and didn't expect so many people to be, well, less like zombies. /end rant
