Let's talk: MKX on PC

It's not dead, it's just not heavily populated. Play during peak hours and add people in your region. I always get people in ranked rooms are definitely dwindling, usually only the "noobs only" rooms are populated. Kinda to be expected though, consoles are where 90% of the competitive community is at.

No offence op, but you wasted your money playing it on pc. Fighting games die hard and fast there, and you should have known this.

Besides, the witcher 3 just came out so that could explain the lack of players. Plus the horrific launch the pc version had.

Yeah that 15 bucks sure was wasted, lol the price alone more than warrants it. If he was expecting incredibly populated play for EU then he was delusional.

I don't care I'm not a competitive player anymore
I'm not playing on PC now because it's not patched... Plain and simple. To have such a limitless platform and ignore it shows the main interest is profit, not supporting the community or offline scene. This just reminds me that the game will be totally unsupported in the coming months so WB can move on to the next profitable line item.

Screw that, I've always loved the fact that for most multi-platform games PC patches hit first because we don't have to wait for console certification. If we don't have to wait for console cert they shouldn't have to wait for us in the rare case where a game company does shit complete ass backwards and release PC patches late
No shit, developers go on and on and on about "omg we can patch this and that even while we sleep" Yet we are have to wait till fantasy Tuesday at 12-4pm est every time... *I'm mainly talking about NRS*

This isn't towards you sinosleep, but I love the idiotic fanboys that buy in to this garbage...

the age of instant patching, yea and I can use a phone in my car!!!!!!

I'm having a difficult time understanding why a game like this would even be played on PC. I have a decent Rig myself & feel like this game is just better suited to the Console crowd (which I love).

console crowd? As if every single game couldn't be played on a PC?

You mean the system that can handle every controller????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Don't get me wrong I've got a PC Rig that's incredible but this is one of those things where capability gets beat out by probability. You ever over hear a conversation where someone goes "Yeah lets get on Steam tonight & play MKX together" as opposed to "Get on Xbox Live" or "Get on PSN".

Hell just take a look on twitch & tell me what platforms their streaming from. PC is badass but just not used in this situation.

No, because I don't have friends, I don't go outside, and I don't watch streams.

Not necessarily.

At present:
There is a pretty solid SFIV community (I've heard larger than ps3). Skullgirls was arguably kept alive by the PC. MKX is still putting up large numbers despite all of the issues (which is really saying something).

In the future:
Yatagarasu will be PC only and early reports are positive. SFV won't even be on the XBone leaving room for the PC to potentially be the largest SF community. At the very least, xplatform play will keep us very relevant. There is one poll that lends support to the possibility of KI being brought to PC eventually (hopefully with xplatform too since it is Microsoft). There is some evidence to suggest that GGXXACPR might make its way to the PC (better late then never) which has the possibility of taking off (still a very, very well-loved game despite Xrd). Tekken 7 will be on PC too. Oh... and Shaq Fu...

That's a really stupid argument, because some dude bros you overheard talked about playing consoles therefore PC should never be supported? Of course it's easier for people to get a console and play but that doesn't make it better. The mentality you have is the kind of backwards traditionalist mentality that keeps new and better things from happening. Never try and improve or do anything new because your average person has not and potentially will not do the same. Fighting games on PC need support and your mindset is awful for making that happen. There's no reason why it shouldn't be a great place for the genre, especially with the limiations of controllers and patches consoles puts on consumers and the low price point and freedom given on PC.

I get what you're saying, it's the same shit as voting for A or B because C will have a less than 10% chance of winning. You cut your losses and settle. Of course in this scenario PC is worse so it ends up being a better choice in more ways than one. But there's no reason logically why it can't thrive on PC. Your under this assumption that casual gamers don't exist on PC, when they sure as hell do. Maybe they just have a bit more money or a higher average IQ that allows them to follow some instructions and slap some lego pieces together to build a pc. Again, I get your logic in the short term but it's still stupid. Get fighting games going on PC, they deserve a home there.

NRS is defo going about it in the most ridiculous way I've ever seen. From what I understand and what was posted in the PC specific patch thread NRS builds the patch on their end, send its over the microsoft/sony for console cert, THEN send it over to high voltage to be redone for PC.

What MOST multi-platform PC developers do, and the reason why USUALLY PC players get patches first is that they either a) write the patches themselves and release them themselves and since there's no console cert to wait on presto fast access to patches or b) allow the third party who ported their game to ALSO write the patches on their own in which case PC players again get their patches first.

I'm having a difficult time understanding why a game like this would even be played on PC. I have a decent Rig myself & feel like this game is just better suited to the Console crowd (which I love).
Well the reason I personally bought it for PC is I got it for 29.99 like the week after it came out, and I REFUSE to pay for PSN or XBL because neither service has dedicated servers for all their games which means you're essentially paying for the privilege of using your own internet connection to play p2p. Which is fucking moronic and I refuse to do no matter how cheap it is. Hell this is actually the first console generation in which I didn't own any of the consoles at launch and I actually still don't. So it was a matter of price and necessity for me.

Since I had never owned an NRS game on PC before I wasn't aware of how their patching works and was expecting the usual early patches for PC ports.

PC is still a better platform, WB are just sorta like Ubisoft in their policies. IE, hire the cheapest porting team possible (HVS). Same goes for ps3/360 versions. Its a shame really, since SF5 is going to benefit from being optimized for both PS4 and PC.
yep this is it guys, fighting games gonna be big on pc just u wait. pc master race been playing possum for 20 years but this is the year, ladies and gentlemen. get ready to see a whole lot of laptops at evo this year, folks.

If this is anybodies fault, it's WB. Just look at how they accept dlc and its practices. Look at the upcoming Batman Arkham Knight with it's 39.99 season pass that's probably gonna be lackluster. We vote almost everyday people, with our wallets.

still no Xrd though
So?

This is a big step forward, and PC gamers need to get off their high horse about what we aren't getting especially as it pertains to fighters since we get very few of the Anime fighters.

GG AC is argued by many to be the pinnacle of the series, and it is being fully supported by the parent company instead of being outsourced like every other GG.

My guess is this is a test of the waters to see if there is a market for the series on PC.

High horse? Why not demand better? It's nice that these companies are doing these things, yeah, but that doesn't allow them to treat me like a second class consumer. Just because I don't go out and buy a console just for their games.

Demanding better is being acknowledged as a potential market for their IP. I think you are missing the significance of Arc Sys joining the fray. If we are a big enough market, that could potentially mean BB, P4A, Xrd, what have you.

It means that they are taking us seriously enough as a market to risk loss on this.

Not to mention, GG AC is very popular (still). Many people prefer it over Xrd, so we might actually have a PC community.

And yeah... high horse. Going from nothing and being given $100 bill, you don't turn around and ask for more.

I think this user is on it.

It looks like the other companies with much cleaner track records will be glad to take what NRS rejected, the PC market. Im looking forward to SF5, the crossover play and dual open betas are both excellent ideas. This platform is new for fighting games, so its understandable that there is fear. The difference between WB/NRS and companies like Capcom is that I suspect NRS truly don't care if their product works well, whereas Capcom will put their game into an open beta to iron out issues (they did this with USF on Steam). ArcSys and Koei-Tecmo both have totally clean slates, and SNK is already golden. The future still looks bright, we just basically have to give up on NRS which is fine.
