They fall SO fast after B22 I legit cannot chain a string after it. Also 3,4 isn't special cancellable. Guessing PC is still pretty behind in patches?
There's a timing to it. I've struggled with it too. Just gotta practice and be patient.

Is it me or when you hit B22 with Kotal against a human opponent or even CPU, they fall faster and you recovery slower now basically nullifying his combos from it now? Please just tell me it's just me because two days ago I was connecting them like crazy and had no issue whatsoever.
 
I was experimenting with corner damage and enders to not switch sides, and here's what I found:

starter xxKahn Kut into d1 d1 d1 122 is from 239-277 and ends with nice long KD.

thats nice and all, but what Im excited about is juggling with d1 d1 34xxKotal Quake or God Ray. God Ray is unsafe, I know, but if you can get away with one fake out safely it really ups your corner damage and threat.

34xxQuake, however, lands the quake meaty on the wakeup. 232-271 damage on the combo plus 80 damage meaty unblockable.

If people can help test how fragile this setup is, thatd be great. I have a friend coming over tonight to help me lab.

The Command Grab buffs stack up to like 6 times, so maybe.
I thought the CG buff expires after 4 of them? But I know the CG and Totem buffs stack I'm assuming Sunlight and Parry do too?
Found a corner unblockable that stuffs Wakup Roll, U2/U3 but can be beat out by Delay WU.
F12/F24/ xx Kahn-cut, D1, 34 xx DB4(Unblockable) (adds 8-15% meterless/Amplified).

221, D1, D1, 34 xx DB4 Unblockable


Tonatiuh-Beam = Sunlight/Sun Ray/God Ray.

More like tournament viable
I actually don't think Totemic is worse than Ascension. Here's why:
  • God Ray isn't better than the no-slot version, where regular sun falls on Kotal and amplified sun follows opponent
  • Kahn Cut + Command Grab is nice for midscreen damage, but if you are trying to maintain corner positioning then you lose corner damage because you can't end in Command Grab
  • Totemic gives you Blood Totem + Air Cat + Ground Cat, all of which have some nice utility
    • Example 1: when cornered, I like to use Air Cat over the opponent to escape the corner for free
    • Example 2: on a good jump read over a projectile, Air Cat let's you punish things you otherwise couldn't be able to
  • Ending in Sword Cut gives good damage and the option of keeping opponent on same side or switching sides with amplify
  • It's true that Ascension gives you tick throws, but I would say that the utility of Blood Totem + Air Cat + Ground Cat in Totemic balances that out
So all in all, I would say that the strengths of Totemic help it be not any worse than Ascension, and I hope more people explore it. Thoughts?

Saw Mr Aquaman doing f12~Kahn Cut, ffd1, f12 sun choke. So I guess that's a bit more optimal. Haven't tested consistency yet though. Are there any good totemic combos? Particularly those that set up into god ray or totem since I imagine that's all he's going for in this variation.

There is no setup for that variation to safley get out them not even with Kahn-cut, safest option is 34 off starter xx Kahn-cut, 34 xx God Ray in (Ascension) Tournament Variation.

With totemic, you won’t be getting very much midscreen damage unless you start a combo with crushing blow. Here are some totemic combos i use:
  • Midscreen punish, no resources: f12xxSword Cut or f12xxCat Pounce
  • Midscreen punish with f122 KB: f122(KB) 34xxSword Cut
  • Midscreen punish with d2 KB: d2(KB) 34xxSword Cut
  • Midscreen off of a jump-in: b22 34xxSword Cut or b22 34xxCat Pounce
  • Max range b22: b22 microdash 34xxSword Cut
  • Corner: 221 d1 34xxSword Cut
  • Corner: b22 d1 34xxSword Cut

It would be really nice if Kotal was given the Kahn-Cut and the Sword Cut in both variations. I realize they're the same input, but that can obviously be changed. He is so limited combo-wise. Usually when I take a character into practice, it takes quite a while to go through all their combo options. This is not the case with Kotal.

Really looking forward to the first round of adjustments for characters. Hope both my Kahns get a little love.
