Kotaku Asks "The Big Question" ... Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter II?

If you're an overall fighting games fan and player, this might be a tough one for you. It's the kind of question that can start an argument that is never resolved. You have to remember back to the days of walking to your local arcade and what fighting games you played the most. Which one stuck out as your favorite? Which one were you the best at? Kotaku is asking... Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter II?

SF II was the 1st game I ever owned on my Genesis and it's what started me on fighting games, therefore my vote goes to SF II.

These two hit the arcade during my PRIME! Such a loaded question- it's like asking who would you save if you could only save one- your mom or your dad..

SFII: quick... Fun.. Colorful.. Beat the fireball.. OMG Zangief!! Get away!!! Why is she touching him there (Guiles air field stage) and Blanka rage..why is Ryu asking everyone if he/she is Ken?? (RU Ken!!!)..

MK: FATALITY!!! Sheets upon sheets of moves and fatalities in your pocket. Picking the least favorite character at your arcade, winning, doing the fatality and having people erupt...Blood everywhere...a character that actually hits you in the nuts!!!!!

I can't do it.. I can't vote ..

Edit: between Midway and Capcom and quarters spent at both cabinets.. I could have put me through college two times over

Doesn't help the fact that Midway kept progressing the MK franchise while Capcom spun their wheels regurgitating the same game release after release..few new characters here and there, but basically just balance and speed fixes.
