Note that there is a guy called dvd1 on gamefaqs who claims he's dvd under a new account and doesn't post at his discord anymore because he lost his passwords in discord or got his account locked, or something. That guy claimed that aftermath 2.0 got cancelled, and the kp3 characters got switched with easier choices. This is me wearing my tinfoil hat, but it could be what mwi meant by saying 'not entirely true' concerning kp3's cancellation.

Also, this dvd1 guy claims that in ... 40 hours from now he'll post a leak over at gamefaqs which will be the hugest huge of huge mk leaks ever leaked in the history of our planet. We're talking Peter Parker is a clone level of reveals, and the mk community will never be the same. All that he asks is for 100 people to reply to his thread within those two days and ask him politely to share this info.

And no, I'm not joking. This is an actual thing. A guy literally teased the announcement of a 'leak' and holds it hostage in exchange for attention. This is literally the saddest thing I've seen a person do on social media.

Anyway, MWI also said WB is not looking mk in a good way right now and the future is not bright for 'people like us'. Vague bullshit or ominous premonitions? I'll let you decide.

I'll repeat what I said over at gamefaqs: something's up with nrs and wb. It is simply unfathomable that a new mk movie is coming out, ed boon ignores its existence completely and instead can't seem to shut up about Marvel characters and IPs.

I honestly don't get what people get out of stuff like this. 100 replies? Why? When its proven wrong they'll never use that account again. Its not like they'll keep the "clout" they get from this. I swear to god mfs are sad as fuck.

Even if this cat is 100% legit, he's still an attention seeking soapbar

Yeah that whole 100 post dvdgamescenter stuff is just played out and not worthy of anyone’s attention. I definitely think something is up with WB and NRS. I mean not even most viewed trailer in short time span gets a mention. So weird. Must be frustrating for people involved with the movie too. No support from the company.

With regards to NRS, I think it can be a combination of the whole crunching thing and then still working so hard during the pandemic that employees might have told WB or higher ups at NRS to piss off with more content. Boon might have lost interest in it anyway with the whole Mileena uproar. I think here either WB pushed for her inclusion as well as internally given fan demand. That can very well lead to being fed up, just give them what they want and be done with it kind of deal.

I can also see WB wanting to see first if the movie is a success before giving the green light for more content. This could explain why content got cancelled and scrapped. There’s been quite a few noticeable employees involved with MK11 leaving as well in recent months. Could point to not liking where the company stands and more importantly no more work in recent future for MK11.

What is clear though is there something going on and if anyone was in the know for real, of people claiming they are, we would’ve heard about it so that’s why any specific future content claims are bogus.

Kinda makes me think all of those typos/inaccuracies from the website/press release that Russo/Garner corrected are a reflection of how WB view MK - not seriously. Intentional or not, that was garbage.

Exactly. It's so odd though given Aftermath and the amount of content we got from the start, it's not like 37 characters and 25 stages with a story expansion within 1,5 years isn't anything short of amazing. SF5 only managed to do that in 3-4 years for example.

yeah, yeah, is fucking weird .... MK11 won the GOTY last year, the MK movie trailer was well received and people are hyped with, and even this way, WB and NRS are in total silence ..... not taking advantage of this , and passing impression that they are bored with MK already, and want to move on in the next project ......

Ed Boon seems kinda melancholic , as he if fed up of MK11 and cannot wait for the time the life cycle of the game just ends ..... WB treats MK franchise as just a product that they , sure, want profit , pure they are too lazy to squeeze more from it, and this is pathetic , hehe :p

would be a huge mistake not releasing a KP3 during the time the movie come out or some weeks later ..... despite some failures , the game is aesthetically beautiful, the story mode is fun to play, and sure, the game itself, has still more potential to sell more until the end of this year, so .... :eek:

If it's at this level, is prefer that the leak to not be true. I remember as a kid when this happened being very upset. Almost like finding out santa claus isn't real levels of upset.

But no, I agree there's something going on with the two companies and it's not making me optimistic about anything MK in the future while under WB.

Now I also want to speculate a little bit, as I think there could be some serious dispute between NRS (Ed Boon), WB and WB Games.

Remember when last year WB wanted to sell the WB Games division?
But they didn't, so maybe it is a really fucked up situation internal.

In a way both "parties" have to go on but the dispute is so intense they start to "boycott".
We live in such a terrible time, one wrong word, and you lose your job, so no one wants to talk about it.
(One wrong word on a MK forum, also already results in censorship ... crazy ... dictators love to censor ...)

Again I have no clue, but it wouldn't be the first time seeing publisher and developer going harm ...

There's already some precedence of that; according to its director, Legacy Season 3: X Generations remains shelved (even though it's fully completed) due to disagreements between NRS and WB because they couldn't agree on how to market and utilise it. So it's been silently put on the shelf without any press hoping we'll all forget about it. One would assume with both MK11 still being promoted and a new movie coming out that a fully complete MK production starring Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa alongside Lewis Tan, as well as Casper Van Dien and Ray Park, would make perfect sense to release to the public especially during all the delays to the movie to keep the hype train going... but nope, nothing.

Realm Kast are doing an interview with director Garrett Warren next week on Youtube, so maybe that'll give us some greater insight into the NRS/WB conflict and whatever may be going on.

Who knows? Maybe Ed will leave WB, form his own studio and gather half of his old team and do a kickstarter with a new IP or something. Would be nice to escape WB's clutches, interact with the community and just ... do their own thing without having to bow to corporate overlords.

Would be nicer for MK to escape Ed Boon and all the people that have destroyed the legacy of Tobias and Vogel working there there now. Pretty much everyone who has a twitter account.

yep, that's right, MK is an IP owned by WB, not NRS ..... so, anytime Ed resolves it's his time to get out , he will be on your own, and MK will continue to be stuck at WB ..... question is, without Ed Boon in the main creative leader position, who would be enough competent to continue the MK legacy for the years to come by ? :(

I just had an epiphany.

Well, more of a theory.

MK insider Ninja boy/MWI claimed that WB is doing things 'differently' and will do things with MK that won't sit well with the fans.

What if those things are ...

A) Abandoning single player content forever and becoming a free to play / pay to win multiplayer only experience?

B) Releasing only on mobile gaming, believing this will maximize profits and minimize costs

C) Will be rid of the complaints of the FGC and will only have to deal with casuals?

Just a theory.

I'm worried we'll be stuck with the bit guy who wanted to become a girl (not that I'm saying there's something wrong with that, but he's literally not the same person who he was in the earlier games), Derek wannabe hipster, Tyler hats guy, Grey Meta twitter nazi, Daanish something who everyone hates, Cianciolo who can't write.

I love what all those guys started as much as the next guy but let's not act like the new characters, overall look, and story in umk3 and mk4 was loved at it's time either. Let's also not act like Boon wasn't a part of that legacy too.

I feel like the fgc is something WB doesn't care about and might not even know it exists. Like, in my head, WB is a bunch of olds who can barely figure out how to use their cell phones, there's no way they know video games have evolved past pong.

This is getting weird...what a bunch of bull, better watch your thoughts. Daanish has left and was a lovely guy who actually talked to fans.
