Today at the E3 conference in Los Angeles, Gamespot was on hand at Stage #1 with the developers of the new Killer Instinct, Double Helix Games. In addition to confirming KI as a launch title for the Xbox One, DHG revealed a number of new details about the game, showed off a lot of live gameplay, and took questions (including some from participants in the twitch chat).

A bit later in the day, the action moved over to the MadCatz stream booth. Double Helix talked more about the game, played and further demonstrated the mechanics, and brought a number of players up to play exhibition matches, including Mike Ross, Gootecks, Ryan Hart, and Maximilian. The earlier matches played by the developers were some of the most in-depth gameplay seen to date.

On hand at E3 were:
Rich Bantegui - Community Manager & Strategist
Michael Wilette - Lead Producer
David Verfaillie - Design Director

Double Helix shared a number of details about the game, including the fact that Glacius will be fully playable at EVO at Double Helix's booth -- along with a brand new character which will be announced from the venue. Double Helix is looking suggestions from fans for gameplay, characters, etc. and expressed a willingness to take fans' input into account to make KI the best game it can possibly be.

Also, DHG cleared up the misconception that the game is free to play; the version of the game that launches with Jago only will be considered a demo; but the game will also have a full digital release with all content. Purchasers will be able to buy either the full retail version, or the demo which will allow you to test the game, and then buy additional characters individually as you desire.

DHG also described the training mode, which is said to have around 40 different lessons in order to help people learn the mechanics of the game. In addition, they shared that the final game will have a few contrasting character archetypes, including grapplers and characters with strong zoning tools.

You know what I really don't care about Double Helix's past honestly. They haven't given me anything to worry about yet and they seem pretty knowledgeable about fighting games and KI in general.
