General/Other - Cybernetic Kano's Cybernetic Variation Discussion Thread

I mean, it's a good move, but so many other characters have so many other better moves that it really isn't all that. Hell Jax has the bootleg version of the prepatch Superman F23.

Half the cast already can blow him up if he throws too many B1's, so imagine if they actually nerfed it. He would be so underused that by September you would have thought he was left off the initial roster.

Kano is good, but he is surely being overrated right now. Like Green Lantern in the early Injustice days. Once people figure him out it'll be just a good character in an overpowered game. A nerf would only kill him for good.

Have you tried f3, 2+4? Does it have the same effect?
Probably not, 2+4 ender tends to have a lot less range. But you could try it and see, or I might if I find the time to make more amazing MLG videos like that one :DOGE

Anybody else do that thing where you do b23 2+4mb instead of b321 after your db1, thinking that you're still pretty much mid screen, only to find your actually in the corner and then kick yourself in the face for wasting the meter? Kano's corner carry is so good sometimes I don't even know it's happening lol.

I absolutely detest spending meter in the corner unless it's for armour or breaker (...or brutality).

Anyway, what's the ideal, online-friendly way to follow up this polava? Njp, jf1/2, then maybe 11, b13xxupball or something? I don't want 11,11,11,11 type combos cos they're a nightmare to do online. I'm not after hella damage. Just something nice and reliable.

I'm at work at the mo and I'm just trying to piece it together in my head. I did it about 4 times today before I came to work and it's gotten under my skin a bit lol

I do njp j1/2 j1/2 b131+3 cause it looks cool haha. Or if I'm like just outside corner range and I notice it haha. But I always hate that haha

So i played in a local this past Friday. 3-2, which is kind of mediocre. Still, i'd like to talk about it a little.

The first person i fought was a Cutthroat main. In the "mirror" match, i feel like Cyber may have it over Cutthroat. The Cutthroat player was taking huge risks to get in after he he realized that i could duck his counterzoning attempts. He would go on to switch to Lao and tried tp use teleport and divekicks to get around knives. Once i figured that out, i stopped chucking knives and baited the unsafe divekicks for punishment. Once he stopped doing them i started throwing knives again.

The next player i fought was a master of souls Ermac main. Look, i'll be honest: i played like a flustered idiot and let this player shake me. You see, he jumped a lot. Like...a lot a lot. So much so that i assumed he was fucking with me. So every time i would AA him with up ball, he would just keep jumping.

Or he'd jump and do an air tele. Or jump and do the vanish move. He would do a string, jump, do another, jump. It didn't matter how many up balls or uppercuts i nailed him with, the moment i tried to zone or play footsies he would try to jump. So because i thought he was fucking with me, i grew reeeaally frustrated and dropped everything. So yeah. Not my finest moment.

I noticed that knives do not trade well with his soul blast and because of lift, you have to be very careful about chucking knives. I would take any advice on this match up.

After that, i fought a sun god Kotal Kahn. The tick throws caught me off guard but it was nothing too overwhelming. At one point, he called Kano's knives broken. That made me smile.

I fought a Dragon Fire Liu Kang next. All of the games were pretty close, but i realized that he wasn't teching throws. So i threw him. A lot. I feel like Liu's cancel pressure can be a nightmare to try and get out of. On top of that, Liu seems like he can counterzone fairly well. How do you all feel about fighting Kang?

Last, i fought an Erron Black player. This loss was entirely my fault. I kept getting nailed with the OH/LOW string, he would mb slide through my zoning....it was awful. I looked super free. The momentum EB gets feels very intense. Especially once he gets a knockdown and starts tossing his calthrops and all those other shenanigans. I need to study up on this character and figure out how to block him.

Played a bunch of casuals with a Stunt Double Johnny Cage player. I'm not sure why people say this character is bad. His mix up potential and damage seem good. Plus, unless I'm mistaken, it seems like he can counterzone pretty well in this variation. What do you all think?

...and that was my tournament. I'm pretty free.

How did you do in your tournament, like, placing wise? How many people turned up? Was it your first tournament?

Out of all of the matchups you mentioned I only ran into an Erron Black at my tournament who also just kept doing the OH/LOW into sand. It was my own fault for not adapting so I too fell to this guy. He wasn't hit confirming it either so any time I did block it I full combo punished but most of the time I messed up on blocking it or blocked the OH but forgot about the low. I mean he wasn't even particularly amazing as a player but that's just Erron Black as a character for you. It sucks losing to something like that, you know you outplayed them but 50/50s just ruled the day. I guess it could be karma for playing Batgirl lol.

I don't like playing online much and the only time I do really is for the ESL Cups that are going on just now so any matchups I'm playing are mostly for the first time  hopefully I get to play them more if someone gets something going here and I can play offline casuals with other people.

Hey 3-2 isn't bad, you won most of your matches! Technically I went 3-2 as well but my first and third matches were byes so.....those matches were pretty free :DOGE here's the bracket if you want to have a look, both me and Scott the Scot are there and got joint 9th.

I would have to look at the bracket to see.

It was not my first tournament. The Ermac player was a well known Marvel guy by the name of Ranmasanma. The Erron Black player went on to make it to Grand Finals.

So I'm not embarrassed by my losses. I beat bad players and lost to two good players. No shame in that. The Ermac loss was my fault for letting him get into my head with his unorthodox playstyle.

Looking back, we had 15 people and i placed 5th.

The jump in scrub attacks....I feel you, especially with teleport punch characters. Once you realize theyre scrubs and stupid and go for an anti air...they teleport and own you.

Ranmasanma is far from a scrub. I think he employed a strange style that i wasn't ready for. Mixing the jumps with teleports and vanishes worked well enough.

I just need to not let him get in my head i guess

Cancelling out of EX Kano Ball (DD) after one hit allows you to extend combos. No idea if this is something new or not since I never played MK9.

Check out the combo at 3:21.

God damn! we need to see how much damage we can get with that. Isn't 31% is less than you normally get off of B1 using a bar?

EX Kano Ball scales a lot, so it won't make your combo bigger (at least i couldn't do it), but it realy helps on wake up, so you can combo with it for a 26% EX KBC, 112~laser 112~Kano Ball (or b231+3 if you want, or even b232+4MB if it will kill your opponent)

The thing that sold me on cyber kano is that his ex knives will beat armored moves. I really enjoyed cutthroat but struggled to maintain pressure once my opponent had meter. With cyber, if I notice they like to wakeup with armor I'll just chuck some ex knives at them and make them think twice before pulling that crap again. Especially useful for sub-zeros ex slide since sub players seem to abuse the hell out of it on wakeup.

I do miss the overhead but it's really not that useful unless they're in the corner.

A blocked b+1 definitely has some "cool down" before you are able to do the next one.

The move seems to function in the same manner in all other aspects.
