I didn't know TO's could change the rules to non-evo standards? At least give some reasoning besides "learn to use stick, or GTFO". Not very curteous to those considering traveling to the event, ya know? Not that I personally use a hitbox, but I've been considering learning it and this type of thing weighs in peoples decisions.

Thanks,

HAN

DreamTR doesnt want hitboxes and thats all i know. if its really such a big deal ask on the srk thread. i just posted this here to maybe get some old skool guys to come out for the classic's.

If this is an EVO event it needs to have the same exact rules

if hit boxes are allowed there they should be allowed here

This coming from a pad player
post it on SRK, i have no power to over rule what my boss told me. so if all of u hitbox players would like to use them goto the srk thread and demand it like u have here. thats all i can tell you guys todo. better to fight it than shoot down the messenger(hints why i got all defensive about it)

Any chance we can get MK9 moved to the Xbox 360 instead of PS3?

I do not own any PS3 controllers.

I think all the previous MK9 tournaments at Game Galaxy were for Xbox 360, too?

I think the only reason why they do run on ps3 is the dpad

ok so i confirmed it will be on PS3, but if u dont have a pad to play on it im sure someone here will let u use theres aslong as there match isnt up. and yea pig is right MK people use it for the pad, but imo ps3 has input probs. they run everything on ps3 at evo bc they get ps3's for free

I'll try and make this quick since I don't post on this forum very often....

We aren't using hitboxes because they allow for stuff to happen in the game that can't completely be done on pads/sticks. They are banned from all games. I don't see the reason why these have been allowed in the first place but we just aren't allowing them in any tournament because people just can't prepare for them. Like it or there are things that make things easier from "pad" or "stick" vs this.

Please note this is the last qualifier for EVO's season.

We decided to use PS3 since the MK community has adopted this as the system of choice for the game even though the game is better on 360 and converters exist for ps2 pads to 360.

GoldenOreos is right, EVO uses PS3 because of sponsorship. IN no way shape or form is the PS3 better than the 360 for fighting games sans Tekken. The system has a lot of problems not even bringing up slowdown, input delay, etc.

The rules of our tourney are different than EVO. You are aware that you can can use a hitbox at EVO for MK but you must qualify with pad or stick at this tournament.

Please note that not everyone is pleased with any rules of every tournament. Just know that we run an efficient tournament and try to always start on time and don't make you "wait around" for matches. We have a lot of experience "running" tournaments as opposed to tournaments that are more "showman" oriented. Personally I don't want to wait 3 hours between matches or pools if I go to a tourney or more.

Thanks for your explanation

I must say that IMHO the ban of the hitbox is pretty short sighted. There is nothing in MK that you can do on a hitbox that can not be done on a pad or stick. You can make an argument about that not being the case in other games and I can agree with you, but not MK.

With the ban on hitbox I will most likely not compete in MK9. I will however compete in MK2 for sure.

I am also a streamer so if the TO would not mind I would be willing to bring my stream equipment to the venue and stream the MK side of the tournament at least up to top 8. Just let me know.

I run into that a lot. I have a 4G hotspot that I use in such instances. Works great.
well if you can do it you are more than welcome to stream. i talked to dreamtr and he said if u can stream more than mk that we will pay u, so just let me know what u think about the situation.

Cool man I will send you both a PM about it. My original plan is to just come up for Friday but I may be willing to stay the weekend to get this EVO event streamed for the FGC.
