This is the dumbest argument ever and it's dumb that I even have to explain this people. I outplay people all the time. With Batman I've beaten multiple Aquamans, Ravens, Martians, Green Lanterns, Zods, Harley Quinns, and Flashes in tournament. Those are all bad matchups for Batman, and I've overcame them by "outplaying" my opponents in tournament time and time again. Sinestro used to beat Batman before his pushblock into trait shot got hotfixed, and I beat Sinestros all the time too. I outplay your Sinestro every time we play.
When it comes to tournament you gotta do what you gotta do to win. When there is money on the line I could care less about outplaying my opponent in a losing matchup or even matchup, when instead I could choose an advantageous matchup and know for sure that I have a better chance of winning. Is it possible for me to outplay somebody in a losing matchup or a 5-5? Obviously. I've done it dozens of times. I've already proved myself. But why would I fight my opponent in a 5-5, when I can use the whole cast and I know a character that puts my opponent at a disadvantage? Only a fool would try to prove a point by sticking with a 5-5 or losing matchup in a tournament where 100's or 1000's of dollars can be won, when instead they could select a character they know that gives them a better chance.
