From what he said if you listen to the whole interview, it sounds like Johnny is playable in the story chapter they are showing off at GDC, So, it's not really him slipping up again like last time.

Johnny is one of the few in MK9 who did survive so I do think he'll be playable. I'll admit, I'd prefer Johnny over Sonya if it's a choice between them. Cassie is more or less Johnny and Sonya mini 2.0 so lol

She feels totally different (as far as what they were like in 9) when you play you'll see... But yeah Cage n Sonya being in this game was almost the only sure thing after 9 ended
