In the original timeline Johnny Cage comes back to life after demonstrating his resolve to the Elder Gods, is the first one to show up when Raiden gathers his warriors to fight the Deadly Alliance, and demonstrates to be the true Earthrealm champion by reuniting the forces of light in the battle of Armageddon and convincing a mad Raiden to fight for good again

In the new timeline, even if by pure luck, he is considered the champion of Earthrealm for surviving the invasion of outworld along with Sonya.

In the original timeline cage died 3 times. By motaru, DA, and Armageddon. more times than anyone else. That's a little embarrassing. Also who has he defeated in the original timeline that's on his resume I can't think of anyone. Subzero on the other hand managed to defeat a whole tarkatan army by himself.

Well it is known that Johnny beats the crap out of Shinnok in the MK X story mode.

Actually in the beginning of the MK9 story mode you see Subzero sword sticking out of Scorpions dead body. Plus scorpion is already dead technically. Can't really kill something that can keep coming back like Scorpion. Also Johnny cage got his ass kicked through out the MK9 story mode where as Subzero (younger) pretty much had an undefeated record beating the likes of Ermac, Cyrax, Scorpion, the jobber reptile, and others as well.

Also as for cage defeating shinnok, big deal. Elder Subzero did that ages ago, and also defeated the 4 elemental gods as well with one of them being Fujin. The resume just doesn't live up to the Lin Kuei warriors. I'm gonna have to see him do some mighty impressive things in MKX. Also from the looks of it, cage wasn't even fighting shinnok by himself in the story trailer. Sonya and Raiden were there to hold his hand.

That timeline still happened. It doesn't cease to exist just because Raiden sent a message to an alternate reality or past a version of himself. Armageddon happened and Shao Kahn won. Haven't you ever watched Terminator? The future doesn't cease to exist because John Connor decides to send a Terminator back in time to protect his mother or himself. Also if we were to go by your logic we would have to throw everything out that cage did in the original timeline.

When was Subzero under the power of Quan Chi when he killed Hanzo? That never happened. Elder Sub killed Hanzo in Mythologies. Scorpion gets resurrected then elder sub beats him again in the Netherealm once again in Mythologies. MK9 scorpion kills elder Sub in story mode. Later on Younger Sub defeats Scorpion in story mode.

Being turned into a cyborg was the worst thing that ever happened to Sub. But he was far from useless. Once again he defeated more people than cage did. He defeats Sektor, Kintaro&Goro, ermac & noob saibot. Not too shabby.

The winner of MK was Liu Kang so he is supposed to be the one to stop aging. Cage never won MK, and Shinnoks invasion is not a tournament. So no he was never champion. He is just Raidens chosen Champion.

The whole tournament is completely unorganized. It just seems completely random. Its more like if you cross someones path you just fight. There are no brackets just FIGHT!
