Janet Cage general discussion

This character is super cool. It seems like you "record" her moves. In the sense that you can buffer and entire sequence, similar to Geras' clone, and she'll perform it on her own no issue. So you can do a stand one, and immediately do a sweep and Janet will perform her standard punches and automatically go into her sweep as soon as she's finished with no timing necessary on your part. This is going to create some devious setplay. Because just off a little baby testing, you can combo off of her low sweep

Being hit while in Stunt Double stance has some unique differences to other Kameo recharges. Some notes:
-Hitting her while idle will deplete 50% if meter > 50%... remaining meter is relative to remaining stance meter.
-Hitting while meter < 50% it goes nowhere
-Counter hitting her while attacking will deplete around 80%.

Mime Block can tank 3 hits or 9% worth of damage... which ever comes first.
I'm playing around with it and it has an idle hitbox too. So if you can get on the other side of the opponent you can do corner combos midscreen. Although it's hitbox doesn't reach to the top of the screen, so if you launch them high enough they'll fly over Janet's box.

Yes it appears NRS has been experimenting with windboxes. Luckily you cant dash block it like the portal of Fear

that's probably the kameo I'm least excited for.
Seems uninspired and blandly designed. There were other more suitable candidates from the roster to be picked rather inventing female Johnny.
Even gameplay-wise - she is totally not my style and not really fulfull the needs of the characters I'm playing (Rain, Smoke).

So I'll pass & wait for Ermac/Mavado or Ermac/Ferra - that's gonna be awesome for sure!

honestly, fair enough. I thought it was a teeny bit ()more interesting of a choice compared to johnny...
But shes interesting gameplay wise and brings new things to the table.
Mime wall is unique and helpful for offensive and defensive play
Stunt Double is a Sento with new toys.
I say give her a shot. Sometimes the dopamine hits later than expected

I tried her with Rain - doesn't work for me
Seeing how Sikander is struggling now pairing her with Sub Zero - doesn't work either

I have to watch some more high level streams/videos (R1Ps arena maybe) and then I may change my mind but from what I saw already - there is nothing in her to really make me try her more. L for NRS in my book.

I know alot of ppl need it spelled out for them, so heres some things to get you started on what Janet can do. I found these without looking at any info outside of this thread:

Nut Punch: Safe, mid, restand (+34). Its also reversal/wake-up with invincibility. It still retains its safety (-6) but loses its plus frames (down to +14) when acting as a reversal.

Hop Punch: Admittedly nothing too special. It's very similar to Sonyas "Square Wave" with the difference being, it specializes in a different area. The 2 additional hits—which cost no additonal resources—are not effected by combo gravity and allow for a prolonged periods of air time.
Example: You can do a full juggle with Nitara, end in 2 or 3 Hop Punches which gives her time to buff and end with 5% healing bite.
Tip: The Hop Punches need to have the direction held in order for the additional punches to come out. This can be a pain for overlapping inputs but you can use it to your advantage.

Mime Wall speaks for itself. 3 hits or 9% tank. After 1 of those limits are exceeded she buttsplats.

Janet will butt splat if the main chracter is hit during the stance, much like Sentos kneel. Hitting Janet ends the stance, drains meter, and deactivates her.
Stunt Double start up is about 15 frames slower than Nitara blood buff.
Heres some Stunt Double sequences for beginners. Note: You can buffer 3 attacks into Janet before her meter even turns green. Basic attacks take half as much kameo meter. Movement cannot not be buffered.

Turret: F1, F1, F1
Aggressive shadow kicks: F3, F3, F3

Mix these up in timing & number of instances.
Remember to protect Janet and utilize her taunt.

I'm working on a setup right now with Geras. You can def buffer her splits, you just can't buffer splits when she's summoned

Day 1: The stance is looking like a dud to me. Takes too long to activate, there doesnt seem to be effective setups for it, and even if you manage to activate it, it doesnt seem worth the kameo bar. Hop punches add good damage to most kombos and only cost half a bar. Nut punch is useful for certain characters and even mime seems more interesting. Hope Im wrong.

Whooooooooo thefuckis Janet! That’s what I think every time somebody does a fatal blow with her.

lore wise this character is a dud and doesn’t make sense. Is she still a funny womanizer like cage but with men?? Like the dudes of mk have to listen to cheesy dad jokes while getting their sick sucked by Janet?? Wtf nobody thought this shit thru lol

In the first setup, if instead of hitting the overhead first and then hitting Janet sweep you hit the sweep first, does the combo it still pop up?
In theory, yeah you could, the issue is controlling Geras himself. If you try to control one of Janet's moves while inputting a string with your main, if that Janet's button isn't part of your normal string then its going to remove your ability to special cancel, unless that string has a long delay ability. Like Geras' f1,2.

The reason that first mix works is because Geras' Sandblast special is db4, so I hold Janet's Idle button until the "b4" part of the special input and I get both Janet's low sweep and Geras' sandblast in the perfect timing for it to launch. So you're probably asking, whats the mix then? The mix would be 2, db4xx(Janb4). Potentially fuzzyable? I didn't test that out because I already spent 6 hours theory crafting lmao. If it is you could probably just do another button into db4. Anything is fine because the OTG will jail them

Who the fuck cares? All that matters is how good of a Kameo she is, and so far she seems a lot better than people thought. People are coming up with some crazy shit already. High damaging combos, very good setups and setplay, etc.

No shit! I can still joke about how lame she is lore wise. Sheesh

Definitely fuzzyable, its not a hard to blockable., just block high then low. If you could pick which one hits first, then you got some dirt.
