Jan 21st, 2025 MK1 Patch Notes

RIP Akira Toriyama
FTFY, fam. I wouldn't expect them for MK1.

Um no he DOESN'T suck at the game. He's VERY good at it, it's just sometimes he runs into players that are cheap/spam projectiles/don't spam projectiles/abuse things he uses but is worse at/don't stop blocking his attacks when he wants them to/presses buttons. Obviously those kinds of players are garbage and should be banned.

You're just a hater
People should dedicate at least an hour a week to LTG streams and rage videos on YT. Your life will be so much more fun

Dropped this game but saw the patch notes on twitter.

feels like this is NRS balance planning

Reikos projectiles were annoying but what were they smoking

They probably listened to every Tom, Dick and Harry out there that doesn't know how to neutral duck, but instead thinks they have to block a high projectile every single time it's thrown.

Yes and no. Zoning will never be allowed to be strong again (due to modern gamers) but,

Reiko's design should've never allowed for full screen play in the first place. It was just a long time design mistake that was finally rectified. It has nothing to do with nerfing/buffing because tier placement or how many randoms on twitter tagged NRS with their tears. His strongest use for his projectile was always, and is still, to link after a poke.

Y'all gotta realize that NRS isn't making changes to this game based on balance, that's just secondary. The fact of the matter is that the removal of his projectile is a net positive for the enjoyment of the game. Whether you could deal with the stars or not.

Same thing for Kitana changes. The character was boring as hell so she needed more sauce. Does it matter that she was already pretty damn good? No, cause nobody wanted to play her or fight her. This is how this game is being handled, this is why Shang and Quan have been dumpster tier since launch. It'll always be sauce over substance.

I wasn't being serious with why I think the change came to be. I just like shit talking the clowns out there that complain about a high projectile.

And poke into projectile can be blown up so hard it's not even funny. Pretty much anyone in the cast can blow it up for free. This doesn't apply if the d1/d4 is on hit, mind you. However, d1/d4 on block into shurikens is a free punish all day. Neutral duck after the stars and press a button after the last star passes you. I tried it with Reiko's f1 (15f startup) and Kitana's b2 (15f startup) and they both punished.

The two biggest things you'll have to worry about from this is him doing EX shurikens which will catch the neutral duck or they'll d1/d4 into tackle and potentially get a combo if Tremor is good to go.

Yes, there are layers (mental stack) to this, but the favor is usually tipped in the opponent's direction if you try that shit too much and Reiko gets blown up hard for it. So, I don't think that's what his projectile's purpose was entirely for. But that's just me and this is coming from someone who doesn't heavily rely on it anyway.

Neither do I. I don't assign any intention to his projectile design. Just that his best use of it (obviously imo) is unaffected.
