Jaded combos (Jade combo thread)

Sorry if this was mentioned the thread but I just had a quick question.

Jade's punish/combo game seems really weak. What Jade's best standing punish for when someone does a negative string (lets assume it's a negative 20 string) and not including Krushing Blows? Her F21 leads to all her bigger combos but that's not viable as a punish. So far I've just been doing B3434 but that seems really lame.

Emerald Defender: B343 Butterfly or B343 Amp'd Nitro Kick (if you wanna burn meter)
Whatever the other one is with Pole Vault: B343 Pole Vault (amp'd or normal)
Custom Option w/ Deadly Assassin: B2124 cancel 4 into Butterfly, Nitro Kick, or Pole Vault

That's.. that's it. That's all Jade really gets. Here's to hoping for an amplified launcher sometime in the future!

Highest damage I was able to find in the corner for one bar Krushing Blow. The (1)24 version is pretty hard to execute but with practice it should be possible to get it consistently. Idk if it's worth it for the extra ~20 damage or not but I thought I'd post it anyway.

For the (1)24 version you need to do backward jump kick or neutral jump kick against females; I'm pretty sure forward jump kick will only work against males. Another tip is to delay as long as possible when you amplify the AirRang so you land quicker and can get the d1 to juggle them high enough to link into b2 > ender.

Damn that combo video is SO well-made. If it didn't jumble variations I'd probably delete mine -_-

The timing on those Dash D2 finishers is so freakin tight I can't see how it's reliable enough to use. Nice stuff with the jump-ins though.
Consistency with using Up/Rang in combos isn't great. She doesn't really get a say in that lol,. misses out on too much guaranteed damage if she doesn't.. I'd say the D2 in combos is about as rough as some combo conversions...

I MEAN HONESTLY

The SOLE purpose of Butterfly is to convert damage in the corner, and for optimal damage she has to get just-frames in to get it down... SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL because female/male/big bodies affect which ones are even usable. Ya need some extensive knowledge to not get killed by Jade's common combo drops..
Also, I don't think it'll ever be fixed, I believe it was done so Jade can't convert damage off 43-butterfly Midscreen, because with less recovery it looks like she could connect.. Didn't play Beta so not sure.

(sure, every character can have this issue, but I'd argue Jade has the worst time out of anyone)

Also bit harder to pull of vs Male (Razor-Rang does not like Male Hitboxes).

I just wish her jump 2 wouldn't whiff on crouching opponents. But her jump 2 is also really plus on block, so if you hit them with a jump 2 and they block, you can go with forward 2 again for the overhead and they can't down 1 you out of it. Most players are going to block low after a jump in

Someone crouchblocking on a jumpin is extremely rare... JiK/JiPs are overheads remember? :)

Idea is to whiffpunish with it, reactionary from a jumpin or punish command grab/throws, otherwise you're better off using JiP/JiK.

Her jump 2 is very plus on block, it does give you a free forward 2, i tried to down 1 after the jump in and it didnt't work. Of course jump in kicks/punches are overheads, but most people after the jump kick/punch are going to block low because they know your plus, and they know jade has a low starter.

(lowpoke-AA's is a different story) and f2 is still reactable, you shouldn't use this as an in-your-face mixup tool.. you get enough plus frames from the JiK.. jus' sayin

but i tried to down 1 jade out of F2 after she used jump 2 in practice several times and I couldn't hit her out of it. It could be even more plus than 16 depending on when you hit them in the jump

The problem again is that both the overhead and the low spark are fully reactable.
This is all well and good but her shit frames make even the crazy jump tool kinda meh.

i hear you man. Jade is in such a weird spot, i feel like a lot of people believe she's fine with the tools she has but keep ignoring the overwhelming issue she has, her DAMAGE. She has the worst damage in the entire game, its not even close actually. Even proper zoners like cetrion can get decent BnB's but Jades gets an abysmal 18.5% EVEN when you use meter. How can people think a character is good when she has the worst damage in the entire game by far.

BUT what about her range and air glaive!!!!

All's been said at this point.
Let's wait and see what NRS thinks they need to patch about the entire game.
If they make every character honest and demolish the game breaking nonsense, Jade might be pretty good.
 
Can anyone offer some advice for more reliably hitting Jade's f21, 4, bf1(amp), d2 uppercut combo? I've been practicing all last night against Sub-Zero, who I think is the hardest model in the game to hit with this particular string, and even though I'm improving I'll still only convert it about 1/4th of the time. The timings are SUPER tight both for when you need to get out that standing 4 into the amped glaive, and for when you need to microdash into the d2. I'll either start up the 4 + bf1 too early and drop the whole combo, or fail to reach them with her d2 at the very end. It seems like you have to barely tap that d2 at the VERY last possible second in order to bop them close enough. When this combo connects it feels awesome because it puts you in a great neutral position, and 343.5 damage for one bar of meter is almost as good as it gets with Jade. But until I can convert this more often it's probably not worth risking over the 312 bnb overhead.

buffer dash (micro dash, you should be barely able to see this)
D2

Replacing the "Dash - D2" with "D4-Nitro kick" is a lot easier.. miss out on ~3% damage.
It's also important you hit the 4-RangAMP high enough in the juggle. It's all muscle memory, just keep practicing :)
 
Thanks for the advice, I think I haven't been buffering dash in between the f21 and standing 4. I'm going to keep wailing on Sub-Zero until I can get the timing down!

I watch Jade's feet. She takes 2 steps forward with the leg closest to the screen. I use the rhythm of those steps to time the d1.

I tend to practice that conversion out of habit every time I turn on the game. It's a beast.
