J360: My thoughts on Injustice at NYCCC

rev0lver

Come On Die Young
Did you mess around with any EX attacks with any characters?
The ex moves were a little tricky to pull off because it required timing. You don't just press rt as you're doing a move. I don't remember exactly how Hector explained it, because I kept trying it different ways but it didn't always come out, maybe it's just a little buggy right now, but I think it works so that when you press rt as the move is connecting it becomes enhanced. I remember J360 was able to get Cyborg's ex air fireball out once and it would shoot a straight fireball and then one diagonally down. Nightwing's air rangs would throw an extra one that knocks down. I think Shady was able to enhance one of Flash's slide attacks but I don't remember what it did.

Edit: I also want to second J360's thoughts on the stages. I was really worried about this too, but if they keep going with the way it was in this build I think we'll be very happy with the system. At one point one of the NRS guys there told me to press RB during my corner combo and something sucked the opponent in and spat him out back at me to continue the juggle for a badass looking combo. My only gripe was that when I was under one of the hanging cars, I could no longer jump all the way up and couldn't even throw my air projectiles, almost as if I was required to use it so I could do my normal stuff.

J360 same questions I asked in the Cdjr thread.

What game would you say Injustice compares to when it comes to the game speed?
How were the stage interactions? In your time with the game, did you see any signs that they may be used frequently or are they just there because NRS wants them to be there?
And not that it matters at this point, but who would you say were the least and most used characters?

I could do without all the universal moves but overall it sounds pretty solid. Green Arrow/ Cyborg all the way.

Solomon Grundy pls?
The most i got from solomon grundy was that he is slow and has a huge jump arc. Other then that he looks like he has trouble against zoners since hes so big, we will see where the later revisions take him, they want him to be able to close distance but not too easily because he is a monster with chain grapples up close

They seem more SF universal the MK universal, they all have the same function, sweep, launcher, wall bounce, ground bounce, but there not the same attacks like they are in MK.

Few questions folks:

- How's the collision boxes in this game? Can pass right between Sub Zero's ice clone's legs or something? Do you go right under a projectile or something?
- Projectile trades?
- Regular trades?
- Input bug?
- Do characters' hitboxes "breathe"?
- Stance switch? any use?
- Is it possible to crossup on the corner? (for the one that's not cornered, that is)
- Meter drain glitch? I'm guessing not since you block by holding back now.
-Collision boxes are very accurate so far, the character models are stable so the hits are consistent on deep jump ins and grounded normals. You can duck highs the same way as every other game, duck and attack or just duck. As far as ducking under a projectile i didnt get to test it, maybe the footage shady has will show a few things i forgot to mention.
-There are trades now with normals
-No instances of input but yet
-As in every game character hit boxes move a little when standing still but the actual hit boxes look -consistent.
-Didnt get to try it, not even sure if it has its uses yet (stance Switch)
-yes you can land deep jump in crossups on a cornered opponent.
-no meter drain glitch, i doubt it will happen due to the fact that you hold back to block and En moves are done differently now, instead of pushing block and the button simultaneously you have to trigger it a few frames after initiating the move.

So the ex moves are more like they were in MKDC?

Say it aint so. Those silly promoves was what i hated most about that game

could you explain the enhanced moves a little more?

You hit your special and then you hit the button that makes it enhance? Or...?

The srk preview awhile back described them a bit.

The super meter in Injustice is broken up into four bars. You gain meter when you are either hit or when you use a special move. For one bar of meter you can use an EX move, however these moves are less traditional EX moves and more EX extensions of existing special moves and combo strings. They are activated like Brave Edges in Soul Calibur V. In the middle of a special move or attack string you press the gimmick button, and a meter is spent to do the EX version. EX moves have different properties from normal moves, causing more damage, special hit states, and more.

Negative edge?
Didn't feel any not 100% sure if there is though

J360 Were you able to ask Hector if wakeup attacks would be included in the game?

Thats actually a question i had brewing but completely forgot to ask because i was so wrapped up in the actual move list to see, i tried some on wake up and nothing happened so not sure yet.

-The game speed is a whole different story from mk9. The dashing and jumping mechanics give the fights a different pace. It feels like the ground movement is slower but the air movement is faster.
-The stage interactions are definitely going to be of use whats in question is the practicality of each stage device but then again each character will have their uses for certain stage interactions, some more then others.
-Most used characters i saw were nightwing and batman, most underused had to be wonder woman.

im still not too sure as to how they work but hector stated that "you initiate a special move and 1 to 2 clicks later you press R2 to make it enhanced" for instance with cyborg i pulled an enhanced air blast, right after he released the shot i pressed R2 and a diagonal downwards shot came out of it similar to an akuma fireball right after.

Why is no one ever talking about Wonder Woman?
I'm here to share the little that I got from playing 5 matches with WW on Brasil Game Show and no good opponents.
Her SS stance is really slow but have good angles.
Tiara toss felt really weird but can shut down some jumpers.
Outside combos or punish the rope grab looks inviable.
She has awesome speed with the rope air dash is really usefull against projectiles
She has a good cross up
Both stances are solid and less gimmicky than other special moves and I think will be good against the most diverse match ups

The game overall I felt really great. Playing persona I felt the game no fun as I thought but with Injustice I really liked after comming in with a bad impression that it would be like the 3d mk stiff.

J360 and STORMS, I'm uploading the 3 match video's right now. I'll post them here when they're done and you guys can add them to the thread. As far as all the other stuff goes... I went back Saturday and I've had more time with the Flash. He definitely looks really good and he has a lot of set ups for his time slowing special which can be bad for a lot of opponents. There is also a lot of mind-game to his dashing which I like. Definitely a solid character so far.

I also got chance to interview Hector and will be doing a write up on Injustice for my website, so I'll drop a link here too at some point soon.

P.S. rev0lver is still free to Flash.
