Question Is Tom Brady a top 10 player?

There was a lot of talk during the MLG season if Tom Brady was still a top player. Since he couldn't compete many considered him washed up but others pointed to his success and quality wins at smaller grass roots tournaments as proof he'd be a contender at MLG if he was able to compete. Now he is back and has placed top 8 at one of the biggest tournaments of the year. Should Tom be considered a top 10 player now?

Here are the facts...

NEC had more entrants than any of the MLG events.

All of the usual suspects were there with few exceptions(Terry bros, Dizzy, Pig).

It was worth 1,000 points on NFG.

Tom lost to his first opponent with Johnny Cage and then made it all the way through losers with only Sub-Zero.

Tom overcame multiple 3-7 MU back to back.

Tom defeated two MLG top 8 finalists back to back to place.

It's not hard to name 10 players better than Tom. I'd say he's top 16 though.

It's kind of tricky since it raises the question "does the best Sub-Zero EVER without question mean you're automatically a top 10 player?". If his knowledge of Sub-Zero were all replaced into a high tier character, he'd probably be top 2 in the world. I'd come to the conclusion that he is a top 10 player based on his undisputed knowledge of Sub-Zero and how it prevails against so many high tiers, even though its debatable.

I don't like tier lists, because it creates differences.
I don't like matchup numbers, because it breaks out into drama.
I don't like to rank people because it creates a lot of dismay.

I surely think that Tom Brady is up there with you, GGA 16 Bit, with Perfect Legend , REO , etc.
But there are not only 10 great players in the community so I do not find it justified to call top lists.
Last time I said that one player is not on the skill level of another, all hell broke loose though, so I don't particularly feel inclined to debate any of this.
I do feel Tom Brady to be a top player, yes. He's the #1 Sub Zero for me.

LBSH, Sub shouldnt belong to any top8. The fact that brady made thru NEC with fighting ac's/curbo's kabals, cyraxes is fucking ridiculous. He might get blown the fuck up in casuals, but who gives a shit... He delivers. In my humble opinion:

If we're talking about if Tom Brady is a Top10 material, then I'd say YES.

However, if we're talking about some kind of statistical rankings than NO, simply because he hasn't been competing in MLG events which have a huge impact. There's just too many people who have done well at MLG (+ Evo) for Tom to have a place in a "statistical" Top10. However, I'd say that NEC XIII was a first big step in Tom's comeback towards getting there statistically as well. He's got the skill, he's got the talent, it's just a matter of playing more big tournaments.

You can't really judge fairly who's the best when it's obvious some characters are better than others. As far as being in the top 10 most strategic players, definitely because half the matches he fights are an uphill battle.
