Hey, everyone. So since this has been a bit of a hot topic this month and with the most recent debates increasing on Skype, Twitter, TYM, and other areas regarding jumping in MKX, I decided to make a video about it sharing my thoughts since there's a patch hitting and something worth discussing. Just my opinion on jumping in this game.

I have a dude over YouTube telling me that he can anti air all characters easily. Who's mans is this?
I would love to see some of these players go up against top Ermac, Kung Jin, Sonya, etc. players on Pig's RHS and see them easily anti-air like they say.

The power of jumping or just the fear of a jump is a strong meta for some characters and a big thing in many match ups.

Mkx is the name , Mix is the game

Exactly. I would love to see this georgeH guy anti air alien consecutively. and also Ferra Torrs jump in 2 on crossup is pretty good. Try it out.

OK so I guess this is the reason why I have different opinions about AA than you; the quality of the players I play against.

If I played against players who know how to mix they jumping with runs or other stuff, the jumps will probably catch me a lot more than they currently do.

Thank you for discussing this Lord Reo. The only point I'd sort of oppose in the video is that jump kicks have always beaten anti-airs for the most part even since MK9. I thought that has always been NRS' point: jump punches lead into full combos but can be anti-aired, but jump kicks are hard to anti-air but don't lead into anything.

NRS made jumping in MKX that strong completely for sales purposes. They wanted to attract the majority of customers to buy the game and compete with others, Those majority are casuals and players with weak fundamentals and that's how they play fighting games. They jump. All day.
Instead of making mechanics that will help those players to improve they added mechanics to complement their poor play style to compensate their lack of skill.

Now that the game have long reached it's sales peak and casuals already had their fun, I really hope NRS will revert back the mechanics to that of a legit fighting game.

Armor?

I mean I know AA'ing with normals in this game isn't nowhere near as good as MK9, but they're still there. Once you come across people like sub and kotal tho, I say fuck it and just armor. It's still an AA

the only time in mk9 jump kicks beat anti airs is if they were deep n you mispaced the anti air / or instant air jump kicks which were punishable

If a character is good in the air they should be ass on the ground. But then it's really bloody hard to balance that character.

Yeah definitely. Waste your precious bar for an anti air and get a measly 12-18% if it doesn't launch for a combo. You're one bar short and haven't gained much.

Anyways, good vid Reo. 100% agree with all your points

Nothing more annoying when i read my opponent will jump, throw out that jab on time and it gets stuffed because there jump in is to strong. This is the only fighting game I've played with such bad AAs. Injustice was better with AAs I could AA 100% consistent. Granted Harley Quinn's AA gun was amazing!

Great video with some interesting points. Personally I think the easiest and best solution would be to make jip neutral or slightly negative and jik even more negative but not punishable (like -5ish) so you don't even need to necessarily worry about AA since it's essentially your turn if you block it. Plus I think it would create a whole new meta because the options are endless when you are neutral standing in the other characters grill. (Armor, poke, fast mid etc). I guess the most annoying thing is jip jailing into 50/50.

Armor's alright if it leads to a decent amount (like Reptile). If not, then congrats, you spent a bar for pretty minimal damage.

Or when you play a character who doesn't accidentaly anti air with almost every special/doesn't low profile with uppercut.

Lol idk what game you're playing but that isn't the case when I play.

And even if it doesn't launch, it's still something against jumping. Something is better than nothing if you ask me
