Short answer : Yes it would
Explanation :
In MKKE Most of the Characters used the Alpha Layer of the DMG files to determine what parts are visible and what parts are not. Like with the Retro Costumes it was used to make parts of the Aprons invisible. So the trick was to adjust the Alpha of the Diff for the parts you wanted to make invisible, then swap the textures via hex to the DMG thereby forcing the game engine to make those parts invisible on the character. This allows removal of Hats, masks, Glasses, etc..
Doing this only in the DMG file will NOT disable damage, but will instead make it invisible so when the character receives damage you see a hole instead of actual damage {Looks like crap to see a hole in someones face/body}
Now I haven't looked into how the game engine for IGAU treats DMG files so I wouldn't know if this could be used or not.
