In the new reboot, Lara Croft constantly moans suggestively and there's a near-rape scene and the devs claimed they want the player to "protect her" (as opposed to the player being her).

That's definitely more sexy fantasy than power fantasy to me.

Even if in early games she had big breasts, women have those naturally so not sure what the problem is here, but you can't say a girl that dual wields guns, went against bears and wolves and tigers, solved crazy puzzles is a sexy fantasy just because of how she looks. That IS sexist and it's actually demeaning women.

Most feminists don't realize they're more for controlling women than letting them be free to represent themselves how they want.

Hey pal, I did say that I can understand why she can be perceived as a power fantasy since she is both things.

I see her more as a sexualized character.... a power fantasy protagonist for me visually is more like Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn.

I'm not saying you're not free to enjoy Lara Croft. I don't see her as the female icon some people think she is, but I know there's women who feel like that towards her and that's fine by me.

NRS have definitely gone SJW, and it’s a shame that so many of the admins on forums like this are supporting them, using downright silly descriptors like “bra and panties” and “lingerie.”

MK has had a consistent design philosophy over the last twenty-five years in regard to its female Outworlders; exotic, fantasy-based, sexualised. The males too have largely followed this dress code. After MK9 dialled this up to 11 with mixed results, the pendulum has swung completely the other way. NRS has destroyed their own consistency and now the females are mostly covered whilst the males are buff and shirtless.

Social Justice is a real thing, and it’s destructive whilst bringing out the worst in its followers. Many, MANY places on the internet downright slate people criticising SJW-influenced work (as always, customers complain about a company, fanboys complain about actual people) and this will probably be my last MK after following the series since the very first one in the arcades.

I wish you would have quoted me, I'd love to effortlessly make my point. Jade is one of my favorite characters in the series, but let's be objective, honest and concise.

Her MK9 primary costume I really like because it had the gold chains and golden accents with the black and green, which looks great. Nobody is shaming the old costumes, but I like Jade due to story and fighting style reasons so her looking like a bad ass Assassin for real is awesome to me.


If you're gonna stop playing the games because the women aren't wearing skimpy stuff that says more about you than their design choices/changes.

Especially a game like this when the male demographic vastly outnumbers the female. Just saying, if you look up the stats on a game like MK especially. A lot of developers do this.

That all being said, I don't think NRS are full blown SJW's but they definitely did cave to the criticism with the one drastic change to another. As long as they don't go full blown retard like Supergirl writers and Captain Marvel bs, I will continue to support them and play MK forever.

Honestly, I think MKX, particularly in the concept art, had the perfect balance for character designs (excluding the Special Forces characters who I think are a bit too drab and homogenized). For example, I think Kitana has never looked better. When looking at the costume, and trying to describe what kind of character this is, the first things that come to mind for me are: sexy, ninja, and princess. You can tell who she is, and you can tell what she's about at just a glance. It's sexy without looking trashy and perfectly encapsulates the character.

And if I'm being completely honest, I'm not 100% impressed with the costumes shown thus far in MK11, particularly for the females. I love that they're going for a more practical look, but I just don't quite feel like they really pop this time around. I don't think there's any denying that there's a very sensitive and reactionary crowd of people out there that WB is aware of, but my main concern is that the costumes are going to look a little too cluttered or overdesigned in order to be as conservative or inoffensive as possible. That aside, I still have high hopes for some more really gorgeous costumes since NRS's artists are just top notch.
