Continuing to enjoy Dong (clip that) and Vox. Dong Hwan is particularly fun as he has to work for his damage but holy shit his damage is bonkers. I need to get more time in the game though...been distracted by building a house, playing Balatro and gaming some other stuff with buddies that aren't fighting game players (Rivals mostly)

Andy looking like a solid character; a mix of his Real Bout versions with an added Demon Flip mechanic.

Can't wait to use him. He's my main until Geese is playable and Mr. Big/Krauser arrive.

Saudi of the Wolves flopped so bad that SNK’s now-former CEO was demoted, like Ono after MvCI failed. Oh well, the game is ass anyway.

I have read about the news here.

The game is considered "ass" now? Why?

According to Wikipedia, reviews were "generally favorable."

What happened?
From what I can tell, the game sold about what their games normally sell (with the exception of Samurai Shodown, which sold a bit more). But they spent a ton more money than usual marketing it, so that makes for a bigger loss than usual if it doesn't sell more.

I don't get to play much these days, but I've liked what I've played so far. At least on a surface level I like the basic interactions and combo system.

Inputs feel pretty natural compared to some of the stricter stuff from them historically., and I don't feel as mentally confused about my combo options in different situations as I have been in SF6. I occasionally catch myself trying to drive rush mid combo which is interesting I have mental wiring for that now. I assume I'm in decline already.

I really felt an unpleasant thematic fracture by including actual people in the base roster. Wasn't interested in that and it really made me hesitate

LEGEND

YES!
I wrote up a whole thing but:

TLDR, Dong is dogshit and no one else is cool enough to touch

The Top tier are game warping and Rev Blows are very poorly designed. Lots of weird interactions occur that don't seem to follow the "rules" of the game.

  • piss poor balance, only maybe 5 characters are relevant
  • sluggish and laggy menus
  • awful netcode
  • WiFi indication omitted
  • too much money spent on marketing, at the expense of other facets of the game
  • no individual character ranks at launch
  • room system sucks
  • damage is way too high and easy to get
  • bad roster due to Ronaldo and Salvatore
  • braindead combo structure since it’s just chaining EX Moves together, even more braindead than SF6
  • REV Blow is a terrible mechanic
  • Tutorial is awful since they omitted several key mechanics (e.g. rolls and the overhead ender to the universal string)
  • the universal string is most characters’ optimal meterless route from lights

maybe it’s too easy to get but its predecessor is 100% know for “fuck up and die” damage and it’s one of the things that makes the game good.

Either way I’m still keeping an eye on this. Andy is interesting to me so maybe I’ll pick it up when he’s out, or maybe one of the planned DLCs will spark some interest.

I’m less worried about balance issues at the jump, we’ll see how quickly they respond to them. The bigger concern is of course netcode/matchmaking stuff.
