EVO World Finals: Rio Las Vegas, July 29-31 2011 and the New Evo Tournament Season

It’s official. Evolution World Finals, the world’s premier open competitive fighting game tournament, will take place at the Rio Casino and Resort in Las Vegas on July 29-31. And with the introduction of the brand new Evolution 2011 Tournament Season, this year’s event will without a doubt be the biggest and baddest ever.

The Evolution 2011 Tournament Season

This year, we’ve partnered up with 8 major tournaments from all over the United States and Canada to create a full season of Evolution events that will offer tournament seeding at Evo World Finals to the overall highest place finishers. A Quick Introduction to Evolution World Finals

If you’re new to the fighting game scene and Evo is something that is new to you, here’s a very brief primer: As the world’s largest open fighting game tournament, the Evolution Championship Series has grown into a global event attracting thousands of competitors of the highest caliber from all over the world seeking victories, cash prizes, and community respect. For more than a decade, the tournament is where new talent emerges as champions, and where reigning champions grow into legends.

However, in recent years, Evo has evolved (no pun intended) into something more. It’s where community members and players ranging anywhere from the casual gamer and spectator to the hardcore tournament junkie can gather en masse and connect to meet in person, learn about the newest fighting game titles and hardware, witness the history in the making, and most importantly, throw down against opponents from all over the world. No matter who you ask, they’ll all tell you the same thing: If there’s only one event you can attend, Evolution is the tournament you will not want to miss.

For more information on the Evolution Championship Series and Evolution World Finals, visit Evo2k.com.

We look forward to seeing you there!

So, will MK9 be selected for Evo 2011? Find out this Wednesday morning!!

SRK said:
In what is becoming a yearly tradition, Shoryuken.com's official podcast, Wakeup, Shoryuken, will be going live to host the announcement of the Evo 2011 game list! You won't want to miss this, as not only will it be the first place to hear which games made the cut this year, but you'll also be able to submit live questions to the Evo staff. This is the only place to get all the information you want on the world's greatest fighting game event.

Stay tuned to SRK to find out how to listen. The show starts at 9:30pm EST, or 6:30pm PST, on Wednesday, January 26th. Make your guesses at this year's lineup in the comments!

Where's mah fucking demo?

We should all get copies with us having signed papers saying we can't talk about it except in a super secret wb forum setup for us to discuss it, and no videos or screenshots...I'd sign to play test it right now.

I love me some MK, but I can't spend money for a trip based on one game I won't even get a chance to play until after I've already paid the $$$$.

Basically no ST = no thanks.

Can't believe they didn't include the only game that has been in every major tourney dating back to pre-Evo days.

True. i hope they do a "game on demand" poll like last year (with MVC2) and include it.

Is Netherrealms involved at all with MK9 being at Evo? Just curious if this is something they'll excited or bitchy about.
