Yeah ranked and casual matches suck. I’s rather play sets with good players in ring matches. I’ve leveled up way more playing @ProudDisciple, @freerf245, Nahh Bruhh, lord akuma and more in ring matches than ranked. I HAVE met some great players in ranked tho, that are great and have decent connections. I’m actually gonna play a set with iHoeky Poeky, the #1 ranked player, he’s really good and apparently he was the #1 ranked in Injustice as well.
I've heard Hoeky is cheeks lol. Haven't played him myself yet but my friend says he is super yolo/random. Have fun.

It's all so very confusing.
Honestly I dread spending time in the lab but I understand its importance. My gameplay has always been theory driven and then tested out vs my opponents with little to no training prior. I guess I just need to learn how to best utilize my time while Im in there. My offense and execution need work but I also need to adjust my mindset about pressing more buttons on offense and on defense. How do I become less passive?
Again, I tend towards the opposite..I need to be more patient and less aggressive.. good players get a read on my aggression early and make me pay for it. I also have a HORRIBLE tendency to try and beat things out instead of blocking them out. My brain just hates passively sitting there.

For instance, buddy plays Piccolo, piccolo does a little blockstring then be can cancel into his counter move, or a projectile or the elbow. There is no reason to push anything here outside an absolute hard read, but why risk that read? Just stand block and try to react to the elbow if it crosses up. Now, as Hit, I can counter out of a lot of his options here, but if he used his own little counter type move, the timing is wonky and seems to beat my counter. So there's no one-size option and the risk is high. He runs Piccolo anchor so he's usually sitting on meter, and a knockdown into Hellzone Grenade shenanigans isn't something I want. It's way safer to just block him out most of the time.. but for some reason, I have to heavily fight my instincts to challenge and try to brute Force the situation. Its just some weird mental thing where I don't like to be pressured, my response is to immediately hit back, and that costs me a LOT.

I should have specified that I feel that I can’t just rely on learning as I play. I think that learning how to lab effectively and doing it more offen will ultimately reap more benefits for me. I definitely agree with you about situations in matches that come up that I might not think of on my own. So far in this game I don’t think that I’ll figure out how to deal with certain situations on the fly and will need to lab it.

I mentioned competing in regards to playing in tournaments. I don’t think I could make it to a level that would give me a good chance of doing well.

Ultimately, it is all about fun and DBFZ has provided the most fun that I’ve had with any type of game in a long time.
I agree with you about what you say.

About competing in the tournament, nobody is the best in any game. Anyone can be best in one game. Take as example Fox being the best in NRS games, while Daigo for Street Fighter and @Lil Majin for Tekken. Just have fun in this life, and compete, because those are games, and in those games everyone has fun playing even in tournaments. You never know. You might be actually good with something.

For me, it's been a while since I had fun for anime FGs since Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, etc.

No he’s actually good man. He does do a few online tactics but he’s legitimately a good player. He’s not like, SonicFox, ChrisG, tatsu, etc level good, but I played him in ranked a couple of weeks ago and he knows what he’s doing.

I’m gonna compete in tournaments and I will never reach the level of the top players. They’re more naturally talented and can put WAAAY more time into the game than I can. But tournaments are fun and teach you a lot even if you go 0-2.

God Confirm

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.
Goku Black is an edgelord but he’s probably my favorite DragonBall villain of all time. And he’s so good in this game and all of his moves look incredible.
yo that makes YOU the edgelord. Black is just a character

With that 2H you'll probably slice the whole damn kitchen, Edgelord Rosé.

I'm patiently waiting for DLC at this point and hoping one of them (Not Bardock or any Goku) has a sick assist so I can anchor them on my team instead of Tien. The whole life drain is rubbing me the wrong way lately when you have multiple characters that can enhance their level 3 supers without giving up 50% of their health.
He's in my top 2 favorite DB characters but man I feel he's one of the few characters where they missed the mark with implementing all his moves and he had SO many, mainly coz his moveset is based on DBZ/Super where he does fuckin nothing.
That being said they still managed to make him pretty unique but I wish he had more of his original DB moves instead of LoltribeamIkillmyself..

Also I lost my orange square coz I was playing with my secondary team against some friends and now even after winning like 20 ranked matches in a row against yellow and higher squares I'm still yellow :(

Maybe I also need to learn when to hit buttons but when Im on defense against better players I feel overwhelmed. Them when Im on offense it seems that my opponent finds a way out of my pressure way too easily. I don’t know of this makes sense but it’s like their “turn” last longer than mine plus they have more “turns” than I do.
@Juggs I felt like this vs your A. Gohan and Goku Black

Yeah nobody wins forever. For me it’s about the small victories that happen within the matches and seeing my progression. With what I have going on in my life even just attending a tournament is difficult. It is true that I’ll never know unless I try.

I’m sure that Top players are just made up differently than the rest. There’s always room for improvement but as you mentioned talent and time invested have a lot to do with it. I haven’t had the opportunity to go to tournaments but I’m sure that they’re great.

I don't understand why his level 1 does damage to him. It makes it hard to make a huge comeback with him because in order to deal out damage you have to hurt yourself. Neo tri beam hurting him makes more sense but spending any more than 2 extra bars on it is pointless because you end up hurting yourself just as much as you hurt the opponent.

I've seen your matches. I like that A. Gohan he looks solid. I would do my very best to take him out first if I fought you. You got skills.

Yeah rank and casual are butt cheeks. I agree with you.

You should load up more matches man. Your one to follow. Alot of people in this thread are. Madd skills all around us.

I wonder if they’ll do alt costumes/outfits in this game. Like speaking of Majin Vegeta, have a Majin Vegeta skin for SS Vegeta. Piccolo with his white shit on with the cape. Great Saiyaman for Adult Gohan. Etc.

Also, they should have allowed you to buy colors for like $5-$10. Unlocking them at random through the capsule system is annoying.

Ive realized that I need to spend more time in the lab. This whole “I’ll learn as I play” doesn’t cut it against players that are more skilled than I am. This game has me really excited to grow, Im not looking to compete but I look forward to hanging with pink squares since Im a lowly yellow square.
I tend to do the same a little. Lab for a really long time. Watch vids or read posts or study resources. Go online. Lose then rinse and repeat.

I try to always challenge myself against stronger people. Even if I lose 100 matches I still try to make sure those 100 matches aren't free and I do my damn best to make him or her work hard for it.

They are. I used to go to tournaments a loooonnnnnggggg time ago lol. Back in the late 90's early 2000's it was beyond fun. Lil meet ups nothing like today's standard. Anyways You learn a lot in person and there's nothing like getting cheers and props in person even if you lose. You go to have fun. Meet people. Play games all day or afternoon. Settle beefs and scores and get recked by not checking your ego at the door. Fun times.

I wouldn't worry about top players either. Remember. They all started out the exact same way as you. We all learn at a different pace or different ways. Taking your own time to master a difficult move 1000 times or labbing difficult match ups & punishing the opponent a clutch situation without so much as a single thought is far better than pulling off flashy or something else that you would see a pro player do.

Like I tell my daughter.

Crawl. Walk. Then run.

Do you have a video of him there? I'd like to see his tactics, as I'm a tactician myself there. If not, it's fine.

I'm actually leaning towards Black being on my main team instead of Goku granted Goku has better space control. He's fun lol. With Trunks & A.Gohan
