I was testing Tanya and noticed something strange - if Tanya delays her 2nd rekka (leaves a gap between 1st and 2nd), but does the 3rd rekka immediately (no gap between 2nd and 3rd), it makes the 3rd rekka safe. I was under the impression that Tanya had to delay the 3rd rekka in order to get that to be safer, but it seems like she can actually delay the 2nd one and it'll actually impact the third one as well. This only works if the first 2 rekkas are blocked by the opponent. If Tanya whiffs the first 2, this will not work.

Is this known?

The way I am testing this - I am playing as reptile, and recording tanya doing the rekka against me, then I am doing a reversal slide. Given that it's a special move reversal, the buffer window is pretty large so I don't think I'm doing this incorrectly, but let me know if this is not the case. Note: this does NOT happen if you test this by playing tanya against a reptile set for reversal slide, and whiff the first 2 rekkas (with a gap between) before making contact on block with the third one (no gap) - this won't make the third rekka safe, as the first two have to make contact.

I have had something like that happen to me. I do not know why that occurs though, 3rd one is still punishable if theres a gap between first one and second and then no gaps for 3rd, i am sure of that 100%, but about the whiffed first 2 ill test that out myself

If you could confirm and let me know if I'm doing this wrong it'd be much appreciated.

I know it seems weird and unintuitive but I am pretty sure that if you leave a gap between the 1st and 2nd but not the 2nd and 3rd it makes the third one safer. I could not punish with reversal slide. The key is the first 2 cannot whiff for this to work.

As someone starting out what is the first thing you think I should master? General pressure strategies? Movement(i know this is a huge part of her playstyle)? Mixup game? I've only really spent an hour getting the hang of things. She's very different from my main (F/T) so I'm struggling a bit at where to start my practice.

Also, when you say that b31 is guaranteed after Tonfa swipe, do you mean they have no other option but to block, or can you continue the combo with it? Having trouble making that connection.

no its like they cannot armor out, they have to block or backdash, but they will get hit by that string if they try to backdash

tremor cannot do anything, his armor is wayyy too slow.

it doesn't matter if the armor is slow, it will still come out if there is even just one frame gap.
What I mean is: I somehow delay the third rekka slightly so that it is still a block string but the tanya is somewhat safe. Need to look more into it though.
