And how was it imbalanced? The ak-47 was a joke. Very high damage and the sight was bouncing up and down, but the actual recoil was very low. There were just no point in using any other assault rifle.
Apparently you didn't spend too much time with the game then. The M16 was the best assault rifle, hands down. Both the AK's were good too, 47 and 74u. The Carbine, M4, G36c and G3 were all also very good.

Same with SMGs, the MP5 and the AK74 had the same stats, but the latter had a much better recoil pattern. From my experience, these 2 weapons owned all the others and pretty much everyone used them.
MP5 was great, so was the P90. The Uzi did work too, you just needed a better shot than you did with the others.

I've seen 1 man using the M16 during my 30-40 hours of CoD4 and it was me lol. Imo both AKs are above the other guns. I did get red tiger on the M4, I know it works, it's just nearly not as good as the almighty AK.

MW3 is definitely a fun game. I could easily play spec-ops with a friend for hours on end, not to take away from multiplayer, but survival mode is hella fun lol.

And before gun nerfs, everybody in black ops migrated from 2 guns (that I can remember) over time until everything was balanced out.

Guns were the ak74u and famas.

cod4 is still considered the best competitive fps game in this current gen.

The problem with just making yearly installments of the same game with tweaks (and regression) without actual investment in the competitive scene while being the fps series powerhouse makes the whole genre look more like a joke in the competitive scene.

I mean look back when Quake and CS were the games for competitive fps, and now compare that to what cod has added to that (or lack of adding). Basically every scene has improved, grown, and expanded (rts, fighting games, moba), while fps has become stagnant due to (imo.) cod.

I mean its not to say competitive is everything, but when the genre was built around the competitive scene for much of its history, you would think that modern developers would try to stick along that path, not regress to help the genre in the long run.

wow the number of hate comments on youtube for mw3 is just insane never saw so many bad comments for a cod game ever. glad i didnt buy it now i still have mk9:rofl:

All I have to say is that the horrible connections in MW3 may be it's downfall. No idea why they decided to make dedicated servers for private matches but not public matches where the majority of people play.

The reason I already have a 1.73 KD ratio in MW3 after one day is because I feel like I'm playing a game oddly familiar...hmmm.

However, when I played Spec Ops with a friend? Insane.

yeah this was dumb. Its like the game flips a coin... to see which side has the "advantage". I've been killed many times after I shot someone first clearly on my screen... and the Kill Cam doesn't show me fire a bullet. I hate this.

oh... and has anyone found a reason to ever use a shotgun? I have tried on many occasions and even when i'm point blank they don't always take down the target. The way the game is... they almost have to be able to one shot kill everywhere but the feet. Because anyone with an AR or SMG will just turn around and blow you up as you "pump" the next round.

I get blown up by shotguns all the time.

the shotguns are raped by the horrible hit detection.

they DO have incredible damage and in some cases, range too, however, just because you got a hit marker doesnt necessarily mean you hit them, in so many occasions ill blast someone, sometimes point blank, with the model just to have him turn round and spray me with a scar killing me instantly, and on the killcam he doesnt so much as get breathed on. :/

Yeah there's definitely something up with the hit detection. It's really annoying shooting someone first and them just taking the bullets, then shooting you once and killing you. It seems that if the enemy sees me, I'm dead... always. On their screen they come around the corner, see me, then shoot me. On my screen I die right when they come around the corner. Hopefully this problem is known and somehow gets patched.

this is actually really really annoying. Hopefully they can fix this... because it really is a turn off. I'm not being rewarded for having better reactions and/or strategy.

problem is, people will just deny its there, as about 97% of the community just likes to spray with the ump or the assault rifles they wont notice if 1 or 2 bullets go astray :').

but when you run around with the 44 magnum like i do, you really notice when someone seems to take more damage than they should

This is actually the reason why I quit playing black ops. I don't notice it as bad in this one but it does still happen to me sometimes.

Here's the two main things that make the CoD formula so successful and why it flies off the shelf like hotcakes; they're not good games but anyone can play them and I mean ANYONE. If you see any publisher use the term "accessible"; try to avoid it. It's something the publishers push actually, not the developers themselves.

-Accessible (nice term for brainless/casual)
-Quickly rewards you for mindlessly running around unloading into everything (RECOIL?! What's that?!)

Sad thing is, these games rack in a ton of money in tournaments, and I have no idea why. What really bothers me is, Activision has actually copied this formula quite a bit in BF3 to get better sales and compete for the accessible gamers. But yes, I ultimately wish we could just go back to the days of CS and DoD in terms of actual competitive FPSes. No hats and no stupid immediate reward system BS.

This has been happening since MW1 honestly. Also, you have to take into account that their gun may be more powerful and what their perks are and yada yada yada. These games are run and spray, upgrade and perk heavy.

No... the hit detection thing is a little different. It isn't lag either... its like... the game flips a coin and says "this team wins" ... I wish you could sit beside me and watch. Its pretty weird and annoying. We are talking... I see him "first" start shooting... and I die. Kill cam shows me NOT EVEN SHOOTING. gah.

Any of you have friends that you play this game with that just quit when sh1t hits the fan? It annoys me to no end that one of my friends (competent player) just likes to quit whenever we start losing or he does bad. It's similar to ragequitting in mk. Taking the 'out' route is easier than trying to do better and that just irks me big time.

At least sniping is fantastic in this game. Also I don't have to worry about the annoying hit detection crap when sniping. Getting 30-5 games everytime while sniping is quite refreshing. Just wish the maps weren't so close quartered.

I think the hit detection thing has more to do with the quickdraw perk. I think the game "breaks" when someone has this perk... Most of the time that the hit detection thing gets me is when someone is using it. Its like the game MAKES them get the first hit regardless.

Overkill is fun with a sniper and assault rifle... I love that they brought back the old thermal scope. Much better than the one Black Ops had.
I really hope they release some more maps soon.... some of these maps are just flat not fun. Carbon and Mission are just... stupid.

I know right? Damn I was on a roll with the bolt action last night. Infinity ward had an article out months ago about how the maps supposedly reduce camping areas. I highly disagree. There is more camping in this cod than any other one I've played. Its not even "hide behind a doorway" camping either. Its "let me pick one of the 5 random cars/crates on the street here and sit behind one til' someone runs by". Just as a heads up, if I'm ever playing any of you guys you might get a message from me that reads "moar camping plz". Seriously its like they took 3 levels worth of debris and put it into each map. I hope we get some of the mw2/ mw maps that are actually in the code for the game.

Didn't you know the weakest area of someone's body in this game is the air around their feet? True story, I die getting shot in the foot and by "wanted bullets" that curve around the corner all the time. Reading this hit detection stuff I'm glad I'm not alone in this one. Stuff that should be killing someone doesn't always do it. Cross map assault rifle battles where I get like 3 hit markers and he doesn't die and then I die without getting hit(one shot killed).

Agreed on the increase of camping. TDM is unplayable now because it's 100% camping mixed in with the retarded "revenge" spawn system.
