I also agree with the consensus on extra strings, however, I'm wondering if Kano's F4, 3 is a bit much dmg for Ratbag to have for a simple wrong guess on OH/Low

I'll just do characters I use/have used. Like I'm not gonna tell ya what kabal needs cause I've never touched that burnt bitch.

Sub Zero:
  1. Amplified Ice Ball. Don't give two shits what you say, balance waaaah. He had it in MK9, he had it in MKX. I want it now and I don't care. It shouldn't be a slot move, it should be like slide... just a special you can amp.
  2. Rising Ice. Give the man some damn combos!
Jax:
  1. Tink Tink strings
  2. Tink Tink strings 2 (He's a character about metal arms, give him all the tink tink!)
  3. Gotcha Grab
Skarlet
1. Parry. She's garbage without it. Creates mind games around her flawless blockable strings.

Jade
1. Extra Strings

Noob (tbh he needs a new set of slot moves for variations cause other than teleport that lets you combo... they're all kinda stupid)
1. All Clones (running man, up clone, and slide)

Raiden
  1. Teleport. What tweedledumb over at NRS thought removing it for the other variations would be fun? Fuck you.
  2. Superman. I think it is but gets replaced in V3. It shouldn't be a move that gets replaced. It's classic Raiden. AND ADD THE GIBBERISH DAMMIT
Honorable Mention:
Shang Tsung
1. Ground Eruption. LOL at having no combos without this. Thankfully V3 has ermac lift and rain kick.

Cassie:
1. Shoulder Charge. You think she was annoying to deal with before? You think Kneecapin' was your worst enemy? Think again bitch, as you get tackled and punched in the face repeatedly.

Kano:
1.Manhandled. That would propel Ratbag to #1 no doubt, but IDC, he was worst in the game, I want to make everyone hate their lives. Especially season 1 and 2 Liu and Scorp players.
2.Vege Mighty. Armor, he needs it.

Scorpion:
1. Demon Dash and Fire Breath. Why is this not in a variation to begin with? NRS is so deadset on making all the variations boring as fuck. This is the most fun I've had with a custom character, just fucking do it.

Kitana:
1. Fan lift. She is THE combo queen, yet you can't combo after tele kick and fan lift is in one variation. See? They're really trying to make this game boring. It's not even a conspiracy theory.

This thread is part tongue-in-cheek, part serious. I'd like to know which your favorite character's abilities you think ought to be base moves and why. For me, it's as follows:
  1. Sub-Zero: Rising Ice - it maximizes his damage and makes his 124 KB quite usable mid-screen
  2. Johnny Cage: Pissed off - like Rising Ice, it maximizes his damage and gives him combo versatility
  3. Baraka: Blade Charge - gives him an easy, mid-screen confirm off of the 44 KB and off JIKs
  4. Scorpion: Death Spear Kombo - Optimizes damage, gives him an added mix-up that is balanced due to its risk
  5. Sonya Blade: Krushing Kounters - allows Sonya to damage opponents looking to poke her out of her high combo-starters
Let's see what the rest of the Kommunity thinks.

My not so crazy conspiracy theory is that someone at NRS decided that the leg grab should be replaced with the flying kick because having a woman in 2019 use her legs and muscular thighs as a weapon is somehow sexist or discriminatory? I mean it would fit the trend of MK11 trying to be violent as ever yet somehow still adhering to the PC crowd. Hey don't ask me the how or why it's just my cRaZy theory, but something tells me someones been replacing the NRS water cooler with a suspiciously fruity tasting liquid.

I do agree NRS is tryna make MK more "mature", but they do have Kitana and Sindel smash your face in with their asses. They most likely just got rid of the leg grab cause they could

This game wouldn't be as boring if they just did away with the shitty variations and made characters complete. It would still be boring, just not AS boring.

Of course you can say that now after 8 months and knowing how the game is balanced. To me that just says they balanced it wrong. First you give all the characters and their variations classic moves as default and then you balance the game accordingly. Not the other way around. Because classic moves are what made all these og characters what they are today. New moves are welcome but classic moves are a must. Imo.
I want to agree, but that totally depends on the classic move in question.

I'm a Sub-Zero main since MK1, but I will admit that him having his ice clone would be a terrible fit for this game, even though it's an OG move all the way from MK3. There really isn't a good way to balance that move in this game, so I like that NRS gave him a new move altogether that serves a lot of the same purpose, but isn't meta-altering. In previous games, he needed an ice clone just to keep up with everyone else's armor and other shenanigans.

I have no issue with classic moves coming back, but they need to fit the meta of the game and not break the character.



However, this thread isn't about which classic moves need to be resurrected from past MKs and brought to this one - this thread is about which current custom moves should be made universal for your favorite characters and why.

That definitely sounds conspiracy-laden to me. There are plenty of other moves from various characters that didn't make it into this game for whatever random reason, most likely because the developers seemingly wanted to focus on giving classic characters a mix of their vintage moves and all-new moves.

Suggesting that NRS is purposely sabotaging characters - particularly female ones - by not giving them some of their classic moves purely for socio-political reasons is far-fetched.

Also one of his variations replaces his GOTCHA GRAB of all things for a round of applause.
Jax don't need it though lol he actually has other moves that are GOOD. Raiden...umm Jo Push replacing Superman? and no teleport in 2 of 3 variations....yeah.

I actually made a status update about this recently, but D'vorah's extra strings should absolutely be base. It's not like she becomes broke when Arachnophobia gains a way to be safe on f22 without meter...against the half of the cast that don't duck under the overhead. I've been fairly quiet about that shit because I figured it's such an obviously stupid thing that it would get fixed, but we're most of the way through the first year now, so time to obnoxiously mention it at every opportunity. Make the overhead part of the string not duckable already!

Ratbag would benefit, but the thing about the F4 into Snakebite is that it costs meter (like it should) so it won't be all wine and roses.

Dirtbag would definitely get the better deal; F4, 3 into Molotov set-ups. Oh, yes.

Do people just make up names for Kano's variations? lol because I've noticed half the time what people call them on here isn't the actual name of the variation lol :D

That's why I called it a cRaZy ConSPiRaCy ThEOrY, you're probably correct. I wasn't being 100% serious with what I said but the current climate of appeasement has gotten me questioning everything for better or worse:coffee:.
It's a shame, I made all these hats for everyone, but I guess all I did was waste perfectly good tinfoil...
