Hey Guys,

I've been looking all over for a thread like this and can't seem to find one so I figured I'd start it.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm not a fan of the Mortal Kombat games and didn't think I would get this game but I'm glad I did! (fingers crossed on the data mine being correct and Joker is indeed a guest character!) With that being said, there are some MU's myself and the gorgeous Cassie Cage are struggling with.

The one I was hoping the community would help me with is Jade. Any tips, tricks or advice?

(To admin: If there is a thread like this already I apologize and understand why you'll close this out.)

@Eldriken this should probably moved in the Cassie forum.

The Jade MU is rough, you can't really zone her out. But Jade can be punished pretty hard and she can't deal out as much damage as you can unless she gets you in the corner. You can punish her nitro kick AMP, I use D4 or D3 on the first hit.

Thanks for the tip! I knew I could punish nitro kick. My current problem is the plethora of tools she has that dominates space control in the MU. Mix her projectile immunity in there and her own zoning tools and I honestly have a hard time even approaching her and if you somehow manage to touch her while she is projectile immune, you can't combo her.

What do you do when you fight her?

Block low and react to f21. Walk in slowly. Break throws. Jade has nothing you have to worry about.

She'll throw out the wiggly stick a lot and it hits from far, just be patient. I'm pretty sure it's very minus on block, so you can punish it with B2,4. Also, be mindful of her overhead combo starter and her overhead FB. You can also punish her overhead pop-up string on the first hit if you're close enough. Not sure if low gunshot can punish it, I'll actually have to lab that.

The best way to learn how to play against a character is to learn that character. That helped me a lot when trying to counter sub-zero's 50/50 game.

Is f21 that that quick forward multiple hit poke or her slow overhead? Sorry I'm still in the process of trying to remember all the characters inputs. Also I wouldn't say she has nothing you have to worry about. At least in the Cassie MU, she has multiple ways to shut Cassie down condition her like the nitro kick (I know it's not safe but its fast and can be enhanced), projectile immunity, great range poking tools, and her own set of projectiles. Mix in the standard 50/50 throws and one mistake sets Cassie back to the starting line.

I feel you on that lol I'll be all fine in the lab then go online and choke up sometimes trying to remember what I was doing. That's a brand new fighter for you. When you get Jade in the corner, how do you keep her there? I generally always go for the restand depending on the hit confirm.

I feel you on that lol I'll be all fine in the lab then go online and choke up sometimes trying to remember what I was doing. That's a brand new fighter for you. When you get Jade in the corner, how do you keep her there? I generally always go for the restand depending on the hit confirm.
I try to condition for them to block F4,1 (overhead) so they block high and then I use F3,4 + nut punch for the restand and grab. And then, instead of F41 like they're used to, I use B1,3 and if you can launch them you can get pretty good damage. 3,4 also launches in the corner.

I don't really use b1,3 because of how unsafe it is but I guess no risk, no reward lol do you use amped kneecappin in the corner? If so, how?

It works if you use it in these combos, they have to be at the right height, not too low and not too high, it's a bit tricky to get but if you hit B2 right after she recovers from the low gunshots you should get them.

B1,3 * S1 * S1 * B2,4 + low gunshot AMP * B2 + Nut kick AMP
B1,3 * S1 * S1 * 3,4 + low gunshot AMP * B2 + Nut kick AMP

Obviously it's super early and only the highest of level Cassie's will have a more concrete idea of her matchups, but just for funsies, here's what I think currently (subject to change of course). And I'm just gonna go with "wins, loses, or even" based off of initial impressions and personal experience in matches instead of numbers cause the game isn't old enough yet.

Also, I'm no high level player so... grain of salt and feel free to laugh at/blow me up for this.

Sonya - Even (her zoning is good, but cassie can go under it with hers. However I think sonya is stronger up close)
Baraka - Even (very similar to sonya)
Skarlet - Even
Sub-Zero - Even
Raiden - Wins (teleport could be a headache, but Raiden is trash tier up close)
Scorpion - Loses
Liu Kang - Even
Shao Kahn - Wins (get zoned lol)
Kano - Wins
D'Vorah - Wins
Kabal - Even
Jade - Loses (could be even, once you get in on jade, Cassie is better than her.)

I dunno about that one lol Skarlet is a pain in the ass for me. It might just be that I'm terrible against Skarlets. It feels like she's better at zoning mid/long and trying to approach Skarlet is never easy or fun for anyone.
I played against this really good Scarlet last weekend and the dude was outfootsing me in mid range. It's embarrassing to admit since I know all her strings and I played her during the stress test.

I have rarely played this one, it's was sort of a "hopefully someone else can tell me" and it seems so. haha

I was going on the assumption that she can't use any projectiles besides the low or the tentacle if cassie is abusing low shot.

This is a MU I'm also interested in myself as well. There aren't many scarlets online and the ones I do fight play one game and leave which is making it hard to learn her tech outside the lab.

I had a pretty long set with a really good Noob, I won more games. The only problem against Noob as Cassie, is the same as every other character playing him, if he gets you he'll punish with 40% no bars and his FB tracks and is a low. As long as you control the space and punish his yolo teleport you'll win easy.

All she has to do is knock you down once and she has control of the long range and will put you on the back pedal real quick. Cassie doesn't want to sit full screen leaning on kneecap against Skarlet lol It's a losing game. Cassie has kneecap and AMP normal guns but Skarlet has Tentacles, Bloodshot, a slow moving Bloodball, her low slowish moving projectile, and a teleport. You're not outzoning Skarlet lol Typically want to be mid-close to close range on her since her pokes are slow but if she gets you mid/long and you're stuck trying to get in on her keep-out, that's where I'm saying it's rough as a mf

Baraka, Jac and Erron completely destroy Cassie if Im not mistaken.
Jacqui is Even/Losing vs Cassie due only to the zoning (Jacqui has a hard time on anyone that can keep her out), Erron ABSOLUTELY shreds Cassie lmao

I'm aware of how punishable the low fireball is but I haven't seen a Jade do a low projectile that close to me.

I feel it's too soon to tell what the MU number would be since this game is brand new so I'm not going to say.

However, I'm talking about Jade toolkit as a whole. I think giving only a few scenarios then saying if you lose you're being massively outplayed isn't really helpful either.

As I stated before, Jade has multiple ranged attacks, projectile immunity, and projectiles of her own. Mix that with a fast forward advancing special that checks your movement and sends you mid to full screen and I'd say that being outplayed isn't really applying here.

How about this, tell me what Cassie can do against Jade so we don't go back an forth in a nonsensical manner.

Also Glaive tracks so you'd have to pick and chose your scenario
