Not surprised there is a shit ton of misinformation floating around here again..

The f23 straight shot setup into jump is easily avoidable by just dashing forward. You can see cc jumping in from a mile away... smh

I'm not trying to say he's not strong. Hell I don't even main the character but it's not cool trying to create all this fear out of something that easily avoidable with a little lab time..

all i'm gonna say to CC mains who said he was bottom tier guaranteed is i was a scarecrow main who though he was bottom tier guaranteed. Then whiteboi happened... just be open to being wrong

Cold is def not top tier but a couple dirty setups and sonic playing him makes people think he's broke lol. Pick up cold and see how hard it can be to actually put people in these setups.

Yeah this thread is super misleading. Captain Cold was never considered "worst" pre-patch or "best" post-patch.

This video doesn't go over how to escape his setups, it just shows how to do them. While it's a great video, all of these setups can be escaped via backdash or pushblock. The guy who came up with the corner reset (who didn't even get tagged) actually has setups that are guaranteed that aren't shown in this thread.

If it's really unblockable which i feel it probably is, it should for sure get patched. But a nerf on this still doesn't address his shitty matchups. Anyone who zones (which is most of the cast) has a field day vs cold (unblockable setup aside). If this setup get patched, which I feel it will and I have no problem with, he needs real buffs in other areas to sort out his shitty matchups. Most of the cast eat cold for breakfast, he shines vs rushdown characters, but that's about it.

(Also, I don't think I see anything here that's new with the patch and some dirty corner refreezes were known before the patch, though I don't know if they were inescapable. )

Technically even these aren't inescapable. If you pushblock at the exact moment you would freeze, you can escape the freeze. I don't really think it's possible to do all the time in a real match but who knows if top players could do that.

Except the majority of us didn't actually say he was bottom tier "guaranteed". That seemed to be everyone else's tier list impression of him. Hardly a comparison.

It's all so very confusing.
I've said before, I thought Cold was terrible, then was shown otherwise. I'll admit and I'm hold that. I think he's a very solid middle ground type character.

But that said, I don't get what the deal is here. The credible members of the Cold Community were never running around saying the man has no setups. They never said he didn't have some crazy dirty stuff. They said he loses HARD to numerous members of the cast and can be shut down very very easily by a large amount of the cast.

I just don't see these setups doing a whole hell of a lot to turn his mad MUs around. Watch Sonic actually play him.. everything he does he gets away with because the other character can't shut him down with a spammable projectile or some such. All the hide behind snow globe and stand on puddle crap doesn't work against half the cast.

Cold is def better than I thought he was.. but this super sketchy title and such is just plain misleading, so is this weird desire to show the Cold Community he's some seekrit top 10 or something. They have been saying all along that he monkeystomps some of the cast and GETS monkeystomped by some of the cast and that's a problem. Sure he has some amazing dirt in his great MUs, the problem is he had just as many or more terrible MUs as good ones and can be counter picked out of competitive play extremely easily.

I know counter picking is part of the game, I'm not arguing that. Just arguing this weird mentality that cold has actually been OP this whole time or something.

Lately my jam with Cold has been turning every zoning war except Deadshot's in my favor with trait and making someone squirm as a result. For example, when you begin to beat Starfire's specials and trade with trait, it changes the MU completely. I've found those MUs maybe even a little easier than trying to play keep away against Scarecrow or other rushdowns because of the lack of preparation on the opponent's side. Play it safe and save the dirt for a hit confirm.

I still don't feel like he's top 5 he has to open you up first and any string into level two on block is negative.

Crow is prolly just right outside of Top 5 & Whiteboi has not really gotten vaporized at any point.

Lol... Vaporized by top tiers? The only time Whiteboi has looked vaporized is against SonicFox's Captain Cold. Scarecrow is amazingly good, people knew the MU and know it even better now, he just got top 3/2 at DTN as well so yeah.

Scarecrow is for sure top 10, cold aint.. like at all. unblock-able aside he sucks vs most of the cast, that definitely ain't top tier material.

Just curious if anyone's labbed MB rolling out of the corner setup? I mean the video said that at some point there's a chance to jump out, so it seems to me MB roll could get you out of it. But then again I'm not sure on the frame difference between the roll and a jump or if the dome slows you down to much to hinder rolling. Any thoughts?

@PND_Mustard , the real challenge playing CC is the trait charging. This is why, unlike the other chars that have auto-charge, I have a hard time playing him without that trait when I play against zoning characters. Filling the power bars is easy. His best MUs are the CQC chars, like Catwoman, or anyone that has poor zoning.

For everyone here who tries playing him and still learning his combos, here:

Notations map:
(H) = To Hold
IJ = Instant Jump

Corner combo:

F23xxMB BF (DB3), F4, DF3, IJ1, F23xxBF, FORWARD DASH, 122x4(H)...

From the "..." notation onward, you may end the combo however you like.

Midscreen combo:

F23xxMB BF, F4, IJ1, F23xxBF1, J1, 122xxWall (DB2), B3, J2, B232x4(H)

My question is for the midscreen combo how do u do it against catwomen or superwomen can't seem to get the j1 to cross up but I've seen sonicfox do it,but I can't do it against some characters I can get 21 bf1 to cross up but not f23 bf1 only can get that on bigger characters
