At this point we're all aware of how garbage Kenshi is in this game. Excuse me if this thread has been done before, but 1. I haven't seen such a thread and 2. This recent patch made me EXTREMELY salty about Kenshi and I feel obligated to share my thoughts on what I think needs to be buffed. Anyways I will separate this by variation and also have a general buffs section for things that should be buffed across all variations of Kenshi. There are a lot of problems with this character so it's gonna be long.
POSSESSED
1. Give armor to his low demon drop.
In this variation he doesn't have very damaging wakeups like Balancedand Kenjutsu do. In this variation the most you'll do off a wakeup is 18%, whereas in the other 2 variations you get 28% or more. It also creates a sort of guessing game on wakeup because of his armored overhead.
2. Better tracking on BF3.
Why the fuck is this as risky as it is? As of now its only purpose is a combo ender because you can't space control with this at all. It also has 33 frames of whiff recovery meaning if any Possessed Kenshi wants to throw this out to space control, you can simply run straight through it and potentially take away Kenshi's entire life for him trying to space control.
3. DB1 should pop the opponent up for for a combo.
Possessed does not get any very good meterless damage. The most I have gotten meterless with Possessed is 25%. This would help give him around the same meterless damage as his other variations and give him an anti-air that is worth a damn, to keep people from jumping at you constantly.
4. Does F4 even serve a purpose?
Either get rid of this move entirely or make it safe as it is currently -20 on block with 23 startup frames.
5.EX Teleport should be faster.
EX teleport feels kinda lazy. It has the same properties as the normal one but has armor, but at the speed it is it feels like a waste of bar.
6. EX Overhead should launch.
Fuck it, it would be just as fair as Tremors EX low except it's overhead with both being Plus 5 on block.
KENJUTSU
1. What happened to the hitbox B32?
In Kenjutsu after EX DF1 you can do B1 to combo after. Problem is B1 is so inconsistent after EX DF1 that run B32 was used to get the same damage without running the risk of whiffing B1. But now we have to either go YOLO and attempt B1 or run D1 for 4-5% less damage. As a variation where damage is difficult enough to get already, is consistency really so much to ask for?
2. DB1 have less recovery on hit and have a better hitbox so it can be a useful anti-air.
The combos off of DB1 are so odd to time and the damage can range from decent to not worth it. Most of the you will be using D1 EX DB4 after this which leads to 33% at most if i'm correct. Remember when I asked about consistency earlier? Yeah with combos that go into DB1 getting anything off it is so inconsistent you'd swear your controller was broken trying to do these in practice mode. Online makes these combos seem almost impossible so removing so recovery to make these combos easier and more consistency on this variation would be a blessing. And don't even get me started on trying to anti-air with this

I'm aware that this got buffed with 5 less recovery on whiff, but 5 FUCKING FRAMES is not enough. It still gets full combo punish and like I said for Possessed, His space control move has no business being as risky as it is. 46 frames of whiff recovery is horrendous and is an absolute joke only bringing it from 51 to 46.
5. B2 is one of the worst things in the world.
Keeping up with the trend of worthless normals here's Kenjutsu's piece of shit B2. Not only is it probably the slowest overhead in the game but its -3 on hit and -18 on block. The only redeeming thing about it is that it low crushes but let's be honest, you'll rarely ever find a situation where this move will be useful. Like Possessed's F4 this move should either be removed or made safe.
6. DB4 and EX DB4 should be made safer.
As a wakeup option EX DB4 is more risky than his BF3 fullscreen with it being -29 on block and as an anti-air it has 51 frames of whiff recovery (normal version has the same frame data as the EX one). God forbid Kenjutsu have a good anti-air. The reason you would try to anti-air with EX DB4 is because of how shitty his DB1 is for anti-air. Make that better at anti-air and this would be unnecessary.
7.The damage scaling on DB1 and EX DB1 should be returned to normal.
They changed the damage scaling on these moves was changed and has more of it for some reason. So in addition to have some pretty difficult links with DB1 the damage scales harder which means you are rewarded a lot less for you're effort.
BALANCED
EDIT:1. BF3 should have less recovery on whiff.
The same thing for Kenjutsu applies here so i'm not gonna harp on it too much.
2. Balanced's overhead slash. Why is it the way it is?
Currently on block it is -10 which is alright I guess, but on hit you are taken away a frame and you're -1 on hit. Why? I'm aware there are no 1 frame or half frame punishes in the game but why is it -1 on it? EX overhead slash currently has no purpose in the game. EX overhead slash should pop the opponent up for a combo and come out fully on block because as it stands, it is an absolute waste of meter to do this move. As @Pig Of The Hut says "Balanced has more holes than a pornstar." and he is right. Any string into overhead slash is interruptible. Basically his offense is nonexistent and gets punished for trying to do mixups.
3. BF2 Should be safe.
To be fair you can make this safe but that doesn't work on everyone due to advancing reversals like slides or Jax's dash punch, or KL EX spin(buzz saw and hat trick), and his get off me move shouldn't be this unsafe.
4. BF3 and EX BF3 Should come out on block.
I never understood why this happened. When this move hits it says that it hits high mid mid, but it doesn't come out on block. The final hit with the normal version should also hit Low with the EX Versions final hit hitting overhead.
General Buffs
1. 44 should be an overhead.
why is 4D4 and overhead and it looks exactly like 44 but 44 is a high mid. Yeah makes sense I guess. Fix it NRS.
2. So many useless strings.
Every string that starts with 21 is fucking useless, and a lot of his other strings are rather unsafe.
3. B1's whiff recovery.
41 frames of whiff recovery on a normal. I think MKX Kenshi is setting records guys. Tone that down a lot.
4. F2 has poor cancel advantage.
Buff the cancel advantage on this up to the same it has on hit or slightly less than that.
5. 6 frame D1.
If a character like Quan Chi gets a 6 frame D1, Kenshi sure as fuck deserves something similar.
6. EX Reflect gets more health.
5% and you spend a bar is just fucking stupid. They amount of health it recovers should be raised to at least like 10% or a bit more. Kotal cashing out with level 1 command grab probably gets him more health (Don't actually know right now, at school). It should also last longer. Also a strange thing with this is absorbing Predators EX Laser, he will absorb the first hit, the second hit will whiff, and Kenshi will take the third hit if I remember correctly, he should absorb multi hitting projectiles as well.
Anyways that's all the buffs I think Kenshi needs. Do these buffs not make sense? Did I miss something you think should be buffed? Do you think i'm wasting my time even trying with Kenshi? Feel free to let me know.
