Black canary - breakdown and analysis

Thanks for saving my time, i think she got some tools to fight up close and possibly air mixups.

The flip to avoid projectile will probably be huge against zoning, and her jump into command grab if that is really a thing, will mix the hell up with jump ins and her Super.

Hopefully those parries can be meterburned for followups, who knows.

She's perfect. This is as close to Canary you'll get in a video game. Not worry about the Sonya hate because Canary was around long before Sonya so if anything Sonya is a Canary clone.

But back to the subject at hand. Yes. She looks like she's have great mix-ups(I hope they aren't 50/50's into 50/50's) and I wouldn't over exaggerate the grenade toss. We didn't see 3 of them, we don't know the recovery,we don't know the full properties of any of it really so making assumptions off the trailer would be really naive. Although she shares quite some similarites with Sonya she also has a similar string to Cassie's f34 which did bother me but that can be changed since it's still in development.


One last thing is it looks like her trait is the scream and it has a stun state similar to the bomb. Maybe she's a loosely vortex character of some sort ? Idk but she looks hella fun to me! Lots of options

Not sure that's how that works. It's very obvious that she has taken a lot from Sonya. I also don't think this is as close you can get to Canary in a video game. Canary has a distinct personality which really isn't coming through here. Sonya isn't a Canary clone. Canary in this game is a Sonya clone, there's no way around that. I don't hate it, it's just disappointing to a degree. I expect more.

If they reveal Dr. Fate and he's taking a bunch of moves from Ermac, i'm gonna be disappointed in that too.

I mean the only reason people are saying it's Sonya clone ish because of the "grenade" which we don't even know how it even functions at all. It could end up being NOTHING close to demo. She's a clone because she has a parry as well ? What were they going to give her flight combos and a teleport? She doesn't have any special powers like that she's a skilled martial artist there's only so much you can do with her. I 100000% expected her to be a rushdown grappler type. I also don't see divekick,a purple energy beam,a hat,or a parry super move. I mean we only saw TWO interactions with her and other characters an you really say she isn't who she is in comics/shows? She very well may be exactly how you expected her once it comes out and she plays a role in the story. I will give you the little flip through projectiles is sonyas leg grab, but to call her a Sonya CLONE in a trailer is kinda overboard.

She has Sonya's grenade, it's pretty certain that she has her own version of Military Stance, she flips around like a madwoman, she has parries,she's clearly playing a mentor leader role to some degree. The parallels to Sonya are there.

It's not necessarily a bad thing depending on who you are, but I think a little more effort could've been put in to make her her own. We'll see how it turns out.

Oh I agree she and Sonya are clearly similar. I'm just saying it's too early to say a complete CLONE. Like a clone would be literally the same character with same movesets,strings, options,ect. I.E. Power Girl/Super Girl Superboy/Superman (if they put him in)

I still can't comprehend how being a hand-to-hand specialist/brawler equates to being a "Sonya clone". Are people seriously this daft?

Dinah/Black Canary is one of the most skilled martial artists in the DC universe, who specialises mainly in boxing and judo (almost as if these styles are seemingly the ones her strings are inspired by). If her strings were on random male character, don't think anyone would have an issue; seems to me like people see blonde hair and breasts and similar street-style movesets and scream "OMG SONYA!"

Specially when Sonya uses krav Maga which is basically military standards, and they have grappling parries by standard.

People are bunch of Idiots these days.

A good majority of the ppl ssaying it dont know anything about the character lol
