Are these reasonable changes?

My basis of "balance" is fair throughout the roster. I used those 3 to show that even if you start trait at lvl 3, nothing changes because it's not a broken trait. It's more of a change than a buff. It would definitely help her feel tougher, but again, the poison ivy matchup, the WoWo matchup, and the Harley Quinn matchup don't change. Do they "need to be nerfed" too?

I don't see bane starting off matches with only 1 or no lvls of venom available.
1 Harley actually could use a slight nerf (Harley's feel free to come after me in the dm's I don't want to derail the thread)
2 yes the trait is as good as the aforementioned. It's safe full screen and leads to a full combo.
3 bane's trait is fundamentally different than most in the game

At full screen AND midrange, lvl 3 CC is her only move that can change the outcome of being kept out with impunity with the exception of a lucky (probably a REALLY lucky) cartwheel and slowly ducking and taking step after step and taking chip and also hoping you don't get tagged by an advancing normal/special in mid range.

But whatever. You win. I'm not trying to fight for something that doesn't exist all day.

Hello people. I'd like to share what I feel i would like to see changed in the upcoming patch for Black Canary. This isn't a troll thread, and I'm very serious. She's a very good character and imo one of the more balanced characters along with flash as they have ass range/neutral but when they get in boi it's play time. Difference is flash has these 2 changes already that I'm about to suggest for her and truthfully I don't see these as too crazy at all. If you have your own changes you'd like to see for her please share and lmk what you think of mine!


1. Trait now recharges in between rounds, and she now starts with level 3 at the start of the match.

-I really don't know why these two aren't already this way. Seriously I believe every single character that has a recharging trait starts off with theirs fully and she does not. I mean I understand level 3 is strong(personally i think level 2 may be the most important l) but you have much stronger traits in the game,I think if they kept the traits the same it wouldn't be too crazy. Although the charge time from level 2 to 3 may have to be slowed down to compensate for this buff.


2. Her D2 is now 6f and slightly better priority or hitbox

-Seriously, her d2 sucks haha. I'd really like to have a good anti air on hand whenever I catch someone jumping on me a lot. She can be abused by some characters with really good jump ins or maybe the jump ins are too strong. Either way I feel every character should be viable at d2 usage!




That's it. She's fine in all other aspects IMO. What do you guys think!

Good suggestions

I would also love if her b1 was faster and f1 became a mid. Don't think she needs anything else tbh
 
Having a d2 that actually AA`s would be nice. Maybe give us a better walk speed, because the range of her mormals is tragic.

Also, if NRS is going to buff her, than her damage output has to be adjusted.

... there are two things that I dislike:

1.) BC hardly ever gets the 1st hit, even though an extra bar of meter would mean a lot to her. Especially zoners can keep her out once the round starts. On the other hand power characters can throw interactables at her. My 1st bar usually comes from taking damage. Sometimes I even eat projectiles on purpose, so I get my bar faster and don't grant the opponent meter for chipping me. This sucks.

solution: starting the round with level 3 would change everything of course. I could also live with it, if EVERYONE started with 1 bar (so I can do a mb roll-mindgame just to get the first hit). generally this would help against the zoning meta.

2.) Actually some d2-attacks pretty much counter everything BC has. Scarecrow, Aquaman and some others just have to wait for BC to come and then throw it out. This shows how hard it is for BC, to get past sweep range. Generally I wonder why people don't use d2 more against BC. Just duck there and react every move she can throw at you...

solution: b2 being special-cancelable would help. It would allow mindegames with forward-flip and mb backward-flip.

These are no huge buffes, but imho they are all she needs once Aquaman and Black Adam are toned down. Then again, she really needs ANYTHING to adress said issues.

Thanks for the tag. I can't remember if it's still a thing if Black Canary not being rewarded meter for getting first hit but if so it should be addressed. These are very reasonable changes.

What if her trait recharging stored each level and then we could choose the level we want via an input (B4 = lv1, D4 = lv2, F4 = lv3.. or something) but no matter what level we chose it fully exhausted trait.. so let's say I let trait charge all the way to lv3 but actually ended up needing lv2.. I could choose it, at the cost of all trait.

That may be op though as having access to lv1 constantly would let her be + on a ton of stuff, super often wouldn't it?

... this one is interesting. lvl1 remains a high, so I wouldn't be too worried about plusframes. however it would be a complete overhaul, because right now trait does recharge faster after a level 2 scream than after a level 3 scream.
 
lvl 1 is a high though.

Also, i`ve been thinking about her damage and, well, i don`t think that Canary is fine, though people say she is. If a character is so shit at neutral that she needs to rely on 500-600 dmg combos into a reset in order to compete with others, than that`s a poorly balanced character. Better neutral, less damage and she`s is gonna be fine. Now she`s random and inconsistent.

Also, where`s her gear from beta? That`s a MASSIVE nerf for her fashion.

Can`t nerf that ass though.

Her damage is brilliant: it is huge only when you sacrfice your scream (= best tool for neutral), otherwise it is below average. Actually I really wouldn't want her neutral changed severly. Hard work/high reward defines the character.

If anything, give her a tool to get past sweep range. Especially once opponents start to turtle by holding down:

- f1 = reactable, huge gaps (countered by most d2-attacks)
- f2 = reactable (countered by most d2-attacks)
- b2 = kinda minus on block and usually very hard to follow up on hit (usually blocked by opponents who are ducking and waiting for an opportunity to do their d2)

Yeah its a high so it wouldn't be great I guess, though maybe we could mindgame them ducking into an OH or something lol.

I'm shitty and new to Canary but it was just something I thought could be interesting.

I wouldn't call this major at all lol. Batman gets 3 bats, can press it during blockstun and hit you out of pressuring him,he can use one WHILE another charges,use them in the air,use it while he's plus on block on everything useful for him, use it to protect himself and be + a billion. It really doesn't compare to batmans at all lol
Right! He can safely use his slide that's supposed to be punishable very safe with bats

I think it's some reasonable suggestions, I'm just not sure she actually needs it at this point.
How is having a d2 not needed? Lol what's the point of a D2 if you can't use it to anti air? Also the trait charge would not only get buffed it gets nerfed too. It would be a rebalance. To compensate for the charging in between rounds, level 2 to level 3 will charge slower than it does now. There's literally nothing extreme about these changes and wouldn't change her bad MUs that much if at all. It would just give her a better fighting chance

I want Armored MB Trait and make F1 a mid.
Omggerd I forgot about you. Yeah I thought about f1 being a mid, but I'm not sure if they'd do that. MB trait sounds cool, but if they make the trait recharge during rounds you would almost always have level 2(which Is seriously probably the most important one). Also I don't like the idea of using 1 bar to get from 2 to 3, cus if they block it I lose my trait and a bar :(
