I thought the first movie was quite acceptable. The liberties they took with the storyline made a lot of sense and the acting wasn't terrible.
Shang in that seemed a lot better than Kahn in the second one to me. Not that I didn't like the guy that played Kahn. I am a longtime fan of his Klingon characters on ST:TNG. But everything about the second movie was just heinous.
I remember before I went and saw the first movie I saw siskel and ebert talk about it and they actually liked it. I was shocked. THey gave it a thumbs up and a thumbs down. The thumb's down was because it was too dark
I had high hopes for the second one. But they were dashed quickly. God what a piece of garbage.
But still better than SF:TM IMO.
