I actually can more easily think of how his style can be used to create a character who'd rather be at some range. With shoulder canon (it can be targeted manually or even auto-lock in the lore, so there's that...) and net as long-range tools, combi-stick to create normals with good reach, mines for setups/safety and cloak to mess with spacing... Well, that can be a thing. With what limitless tech that Predator has depending on how they make him he could be a TOP 3 Anti-Zoner but that's just what I think.
I know, right? And yet there are people in the predator thread (4 or 5 of em) that think it would be a good idea to REMOVE all of that stuff for one of his variations, ala his encounter with Arnold at the end of the movie. To "show off his hand-to-hand skills".I actually can more easily think of how his style can be used to create a character who'd rather be at some range. Well, perhaps the way it was done in said movie. Then pit him versus Kommando KanoI know, right? Remove? Predators? Weapons? Sure, that's a good idea......HOW? But I digress.
Cyrax - Kabal says hi.Teleports > zoning
That's what they are doing though it seems. Takeda, for one, has something like that in his jedi variation - long-reaching moves and traps to cover space, for example.NRS needs to take a page from some of these anime games and make zoaning interesting and cool to watch. dont do just projectiles, get some traps, and other mechanics in there.
im fine with it, as long as people who think throwing projectiles all day is a legitimate form of playing fighting games aren't happy.Half the fucking cast teleports or goes off the screen making them unhittable or something. Just because there isn't a pary that does guaranteed damage like smoke ' s doesn't mean there aren't anti-zoners.
Anti-zoner isn't an archetype. Some characters are just good against zoners. Designing a character to be anti-anything is stupid. So I am here thinking, where are the anti-zoners in MKX at? Maybe I payed attention but so far I have seen a lot of rushdown characters and zoning characters. Are rushdown characters considered anti zoners? Are teleporters anti-zoner?

It doesn't matter what they or you think is a "legitimate" fighting style. If I play you and you aren't good enough to get around projectiles then that's on you. Zoning is frustrating as hell sometimes I agree. And boring to a lot including me. But saying it isn't legit is 100% false.im fine with it, as long as people who think throwing projectiles all day is a legitimate form of playing fighting games aren't happy.
And those are just his universal zoning tools which will carry over to his inferno variation. His Noob Saibot like attacks with that one will cover every inch of the screen when coupled with his mobility.Scorpion is a counter zoner by default, he can teleport to avoid projectiles and full combo punish them after wards
Mileena ethereal variation is anti-zoner too aside from being also built for mixups on knockdown, her telekick and roll are anti-zoning tools
Yes a wider space to control without having to put himself there and a great threat of being able to choose between controling the space himself or using a demon to do it.And those are just his universal zoning tools which will carry over to his inferno variation. I 100% support this idea. This needs a major debate. Given that this game's inner functions work completely different than MK9 and IGAU, this is definitely a topic that needs some breaking down.
he honestly sounds like a more traditional zoner...what are we complaining about again?Yes a wider space to control without having to put himself there and a great threat of being able to choose between controling the space himself or using a demon to do it.
Not as broke as his neck in MK though amirite?!?!Probably in tempest when you have the hat arround you.
Edit: which is also broken, of course.
reflect actually means reflecting something... Plus it is prob not even a consistent projectile nullifier and it looks like a waste to use it like that.Probably in tempest when you have the hat arround you.

Let's see if Takeda reflects low projectiles and let's see if a simple Down 4 will shut down a teleport like in MK9. NRS hasn't showed what some of us really want to see. Like 3-hit launchers and block openers. I haven't seen not one 3-hit (low-mid-spear) launcher for Scorpion yet-like Batman's Back-1,1,3. All we've seen is loads of blockable high hits and two hit hard knockdown lows. There's way too much anti-zoning as it is. What are you talking about OP??
-Raiden Displacer.
-Takeda all over the screen.
-Takeda LightSaber reflects.
-Kitana Reflects now for some reason.
-Mileena teleports now for some reason.
-Reports about projectiles being slower/more punishable than ever.
-Reptile with a slow mo trait recharging every 3 seconds.
-Kotal Kahn creating sunlight to stand in while he regains health during your zoning.
-The run button.
-etc etc etc.
That's just off of the top of my head. The real question is, "where's the zoning"?
