The game is really fun, don't get me wrong. But if you want to buy it thinking you can splitscreen online too, don't. when you try to go on the multiplayer or online co op with two local players, you get a message saying, "Split screen is prohibited over Xbox live and system link."

Absolute letdown, Mustard bought it thinking we could both play it together, but we're restricted to the campaign locally only (don't get me wrong, the campaign is really good so far.)

What a load of shit, I think devs have a serious thing against real friends these days.

So even if my friend has an xbl gamertag and signs in on my xbox, we still can't play split screen online?

The major points bashed are moot. They say carrying 10 weapons is bad. Dude, I grew up with Doom, carrying lots of weapons is good. They also say enemies are dumb and mindless and you just shoot them down. Again, I grew up with Doom, mindless dumb Aliens is what I want. The reviewer is looking at this game through the eyes of a CoD fan not a 90's shooter vet. You're not going to go all tactical vs an Alien and "duck behind cover". I'm sure the game is fine. Besides, it's Aliens there is no story required.

One last thing, Aliens doesn't need to be scary, it's not Dead Space. The Aliens just need to predictably run at you from down the corridor on the ceiling or pop up in your face from a vent where you just respond by unloading a full mag into its face. All you need is big ass guns, marines on your side willing to die and tons of bugs to kill.

i actually preordered it but after reading the reviews i decided not to bother picking it up.if it got mixed reviews i might have picked it up but they were all really bad.i'll wait 6 weeks and if i still have a slight interest i'll pick it up in the bargain bin for £10 because thats where it'll be. its not the greatest looking game in the world either

Let me just be very clear. I am loving the game for what is in it. As you said Chucky, there are plenty of aliens to kill, satisfying as HELL weapons and a hell of a survival feel when you play on harder difficulties.

As a fan of Alien, I love it. But the splitscreen thing has killed a lot of it for me.

And no, even with two separate gamertags on one console, it still wont allow you both to go online. So disappointing..

If I recall, IGN is the same group who gave Resistance 3 a high rating.

Don't listen to these people. That said, I haven't played this game.

I have no idea why this xenomorph just walks past the player, but everything I read so far points towards that it shouldn't be? I thought it was a zombie xeno (i honestly dont know lol)

This has been posted in several negative threads about the game on other sites.

i see what your saying but i want far more from a aliens game in this day and age.if you guys are happy with it though thats fair enough.

Kind of reminds me of when AVP came out a few years ago and it got very eh reviews but the game was fun as hell regardless of its flaws. Online was fun and the campaign was cool regardless. Most of the reviews state that the game is missing the "atmosphere" of the Alien series but every clip and even levels I've seen suggest otherwise.

But let me ask again, if my friend has an xbl gamertag and signs in on my xbox, we still can't play split screen online? I know some games won't allow it with a guest but they will with an actual xbl account.

You still won't be able to. Me and Mustard have our own accounts on one console and we couldn't.

i was thinking about getting this but I hate modern FPS's. How are the maps in this game? Linear or non linear like doom maps? I want to be able to explore and figure out mind breaking puzzles to get past the map. I think this graph sums up what I'm asking:

Aliens hasn't got sandbox elements, and to be honest, it shouldn't have. It's definitely about blasting hundreds of xenos to bits though, which is mad fun.

Fighting xenos in this game is as exciting as waiting in line at the DMV. What ever happened to the frantic intensity of AvP PC, a game that came out over 10 years ago? I hate modern games.

I don't trust game reviews on any official site simply because they tend to be way too biased and often the reviewer is way to one sided on paticular aspects of the game. I'lee picking this game up tomorrow, because I'm an Alien & Predator nut and have loved almost every game that has been put out for it, (well minus that crappy AvP SNES game) anyway when comes to game you have to just decide on yourself if it is good. Take Duke Nukem 4ever, medocre game at best, recieved some of the worst reviews ever put out and yet I had much fun with it and felt it was a good game. Listening to reviewers and critics will lead one awya form some of the best movies and games out there. Dude where's my car was a rediculous movie and funny as hell, but the critics though it was horrible, well it wasn't suppose to be the smash feel good hit of the year.

Dude, I'm such a big Aliens/Predator fan I bought all the shitty comics in the late '90s and saw AvP Requiem(one of the worst movies ever) in the theater. Trust me, this game blows anal chunks. Buy an expensive dinner instead.
