A Look Inside Pig's "Injustice NoteBook"

Fromundaman

I write too much.
So quick question:

Most of this seems to be player specific. Do you have a separate notebook for matchup specific info, or do you just study the players?

You inspired me to start doing this a while back. I love watching hard work pay off with big results, which you clearly demonstrate! This is what winners do and TBH it makes you one of the scariest people to play against knowing you have a backlog of notes on players/characters.

This has really worked well for me recently as well. I have notes on the top 50ish at Shoryuken Rankings. I used to get a plethora of top 16s the first year of this game (always just shy of top 8), and now I have done very well my last 3 tournaments because of player/MU preparation (top8 CW, 25th EVO, top8 SJ). I feel myself getting better with every passing day of study, especially as I continue to get more comfortable with Zod and his MUs (something I feel still has a lot of growing room).

I will be doing this hardcore in MKX. Our community of top players is small enough that these types of lists can be very effective and should be a staple of any serious competitor.

It's hard to prepare for MMHs cause they all play so differently and use different setups. Dab plays nothing like Jupiter, Jupiter plays different than Reo etc
I think you guys all play basically the same type of style (except for maybe Kinetic Balding has his own MU specific setups). It is more of a personality/tendency thing (which perhaps you are referring to). IE., DO you respect random sidearm? Do you enjoy overhead tele? Tendency on knockdown, ect...

The annoying part is trying to figure out these tendencies in a ft3 tournament setting. Zod would get utterly bodied in the process of trying to get a 'feel'. The reason I did so well in my sets against Jupiter and REO at SJ is because I studied their tendencies so much before hand. Even then there was so much more work I could have done, that would have helped push me over and take the win (like Jupiter tendency to iaj1-tele.) That is why a list like this is invaluable compared to just a flowchart MU one.

I actually wanted to start doing this as well for specific neutral game situations in matchups (like what to look for, and common tendencies after certain moves). Really sick notes @AK Pig Of The Hut , probably going to start doing this as well on matchups. I do feel a lot of players do have tendencies but they don't realize them, especially when under pressure.

You know what fuck it, I wanna start doing this right now

How do you know how much room to leave per section/subsection, lol
Use a binder where u can always add/subtract paper from. 3 ring binder w dividers one per Character then within each character you can write on a blank sheet a player name to keep a file on or buy more dividers. Personally I just use dividers for characters n paper for players

Its actually a pretty common yet useful practice for smart players to keep notes like these.

I had one for CSZ meter building and this one anti wakeup setup and who it worked against :3

it was uploaded somewhere until the domain went under so now all I has are physical copies ;_;

@AK Pig Of The Hut do you have any regarding stages?!

I feel like breaking down the MU and tendencies of your opponent on such a level kinda makes you a little, idk, paranoid during the match?

Personally, I try to adapt on the fly and be more reactive.

Props to high level players, if a game ever gets to this point for me I don't want to play. That looks like Calc or some shit Lol.

Zyphox

What is going on guys, Ya Boi Zyphox here.
What's fascinating to me is after I'll do notes for me vs someone I'll then pull up a match w that person vs another and see how their tendencies prove true universally or was it MU based w me
yeah man, humans are hella predictable, and what makes sonicphox so good, he does different shit and you really can't make a read on him, i was lucky to get 2 games off of him at ECT in our Ft3 tournament match. btw my name is now Zyfox. :DOGE
