I reacted the same lol. Winning against the world champion is something even we didn't expect.
I'll have to disagree with you in this one.. there's no way Ronaldo wont get player of the year.. with Real winning the UCL and him being the top scorer (scoring in almost every game btw), he's pretty much locked to win again.. the only way he could lost it, it was either Messi or Salah winning the World Cup, or at least taking their teams further in the tournament than Portugal, but considering one is already eliminated, and the other is like 90% out as well, they wouldn't pass Ronaldo in the run.
With all respect to Portugal, but their team is ubber garbage, its literally Ronaldo, the goalkeeper and 9 random guys.. Argentina is bad as well, but much better than Portugal, and like you said about Messi qualifying Argentina all by himself, Ronaldo did the same with Portugal, with worst players by his side.
Unless Ronaldo really plays out of his mind, I can't see Portugal taking it over teams like France, Brazil, Germany etc.. Even Croatia has a better team than Portugal on paper
Real won the champions league, bacelona won everything else. And what do you mean Ronaldo being the top scorer? In what? Messi is the top scorer in all of Europe this season, I'm confused as to Ronaldo being top scorer in what?
I agree with this
How? I thought Salah outscored him this season.
Just checked - Messi scored 2 more than Salah this season. He's the top scorer in Europe with 34 goals.
He was top scorer in the UCL.. and judging by past years, winning LaLiga and Spanish Cup doesn’t mean much, Champions League is the real deal.. plus Portugal still being alive in the WC and Ronaldo playing better game after game.
Yeah I also think Ronaldo will take it free. Winning the UCL + being on fire in the world cup has like 20 times the weight of winning La Liga and the Spanish cup
And if Liverpool had won one single championship, Salah would be number 2 over Messi, but without any titles and Egypt perfoming poorly in the WC I doubt this will happen.
If Ronaldo wins the World Cup then yes. If not then no. You guys are basically saying that a guy who has been playing better IN 2 GAMES so far deserves to win it more than a guy who played much much better in the years season. One champions league win, the second one where he didn't even score, is never going to be better than a guy winning la liga, golden boot OF EUROPE, more assists, and winning copa del Rey. That's like saying a guy who wins combo breaker gets more credit than a guy who wins e-league,ncr,Ceo. To me once Ronaldo saw that Messi murdered him in everything else is when he and most of his fans tried playing the "well champions league is more important" story. That's desperation in my eyes. But I mean, what else could they say? If Messi wins this World Cup ignorant fans will still say "yea Messi won everything but Ronaldo won the champions". That's like, the only thing he's beaten Messi in this season lol. Also I'm not saying you guys would say this I wanna get that clear, I'm putting as example fans who will only hold on to the only thing they can. Not you guys.
Since you compared it to injustice, lets put it that way.. imagine Messi is SonicFox, won lots of major and placed everywhere, and then Ronaldo is Dragon, who won Evo and the whole E-League.
Which one holds more weight?
quality > quantity
With the World Cup being Evo? Of course eleague and Evo. I'm not debating that that's a given there id agree with you guys 100%
No I think you're being biased because you're a Messi fan.
If you want a proper comparison you should refer to the Sonicfox vs Dragon debate of last season.
Sonic won most of the tournaments but Dragon won the big 2: EVO and Eleague. And most people think Dragon is better than Sonic in Inj2 because of it.
If Ronaldo wins the world cup I actually have a very hot take on that, which is that Ronaldo will be better than Messi period. Like overall not just this season. But that's a whole other discussion.
I'm a messi fan btw and always thought he's better than Ronaldo. But Ronaldo winning the euro 2016 and seeing what he's doing right now in Russia has flipped the table for me.

Read the post on top of yours for your answer, yea I know you responded before getting the chance to read it so it's all good. There's no doubt Ronaldo would deserve it IF he and Portugal win it, that's not the argument. But if you guys are saying he deserves it NOW because he's played 2 good games then that's being biased. I mean Mexico beat Germany and I would never say "Mexico deserves best team this year", it's one game lol. So to end this as it's becoming yet another Messi vs Ronaldo debate, as of NOW Messi is a lock. IF r7 wins the cup then he's the lock. At the end of the day it's apples and oranges.
I don't think LaLiga and Spanish Cup hold a lot of weight in the player of the year equation tbh. They are basically a league/cup of 2/3 teams. Even Premier League speaks louder since it outnumbers LaLiga in the relevant teams department. UCL is the big one, the player who wins UCL is a shoe in player of the year, unless it is a world cup year, then there is another big one and with Ronaldo doing better than Messi in both of them it is pretty safe to say he will get POY again.
So Ronaldo can't even win a Spanish cup where it doesn't have too many relevant teams? Lol. See how this works against this logic? Anyways I refuse to believe one trophy weighs more than 3, including 3 awards where BOTH the said players competed in and Messi won 3 of the 4. Again to me that's the only thing Ronaldo's fans can say, Messi scored more goals, has more assists, won more trophies, but hey Madrid won a champions. Also need I remind you guys that the 2 most recent times Ronaldo won the player of the year Messi was injured both seasons and played half the games? I mean look, all I'm saying is that most people would give Messi the award if it ended today, we still have the World Cup, Argentina most likely is our, so ronaldo has a great chance of doing more and getting the award, like I've said many times, I'd have no problem with that, but don't try to convince yourselves that one champions where he was irrelevant in the final holds more weight that every other thing Messi won compared to him. Anyways it's a never ending debate, carry on.
I mean, there are only 3 champions league caliber teams in Spain so placing/winning/scoring/assisting in spanish league/cup defnitely doesn't mean nearly as much as doing so in UCL, and Ronaldo had a pretty good run in the heavy hitters league, he won it. I think it is prety evident that 90% of the european teams set their main focus to the chapions league run, putting every other league in a secondary status. Anyway, time will tell, but to me unless a miracle happens and Argentina ends up doing very good at this world cup, to me, Ronaldo is a no-brainer for POY bc he has been better at everything that really matters so far.
Costa Rica is winning this match IMO.. Brazil looks nervous af.
Let's take a moment to realize how bad this tournament is looking for Argentina.
God dammit Brazil
This match is lit. Explosive emotions right now
Neymar's non-penalized dive looked like letting the opponent fall to the ground after "Finish him!" lol.
Costa Rica played well, but they slipped up in the second half.
From watching both o Brazil's games I had the impression that their offense works way better with Firmino on field. I feel like having both Firmino and Jesus has a huge impact on the opposition's defense.
Yeah I felt that too.. Firmino and Douglas Costa are playing much better than Jesus and Willian.. they should be starting the games.
