I'll have to disagree with you in this one.. there's no way Ronaldo wont get player of the year.. with Real winning the UCL and him being the top scorer (scoring in almost every game btw), he's pretty much locked to win again.. the only way he could lost it, it was either Messi or Salah winning the World Cup, or at least taking their teams further in the tournament than Portugal, but considering one is already eliminated, and the other is like 90% out as well, they wouldn't pass Ronaldo in the run.
With all respect to Portugal, but their team is ubber garbage, its literally Ronaldo, the goalkeeper and 9 random guys.. Argentina is bad as well, but much better than Portugal, and like you said about Messi qualifying Argentina all by himself, Ronaldo did the same with Portugal, with worst players by his side.

Unless Ronaldo really plays out of his mind, I can't see Portugal taking it over teams like France, Brazil, Germany etc.. Even Croatia has a better team than Portugal on paper

He was top scorer in the UCL.. and judging by past years, winning LaLiga and Spanish Cup doesn’t mean much, Champions League is the real deal.. plus Portugal still being alive in the WC and Ronaldo playing better game after game.

Since you compared it to injustice, lets put it that way.. imagine Messi is SonicFox, won lots of major and placed everywhere, and then Ronaldo is Dragon, who won Evo and the whole E-League.

Read the post on top of yours for your answer, yea I know you responded before getting the chance to read it so it's all good. There's no doubt Ronaldo would deserve it IF he and Portugal win it, that's not the argument. But if you guys are saying he deserves it NOW because he's played 2 good games then that's being biased. I mean Mexico beat Germany and I would never say "Mexico deserves best team this year", it's one game lol. So to end this as it's becoming yet another Messi vs Ronaldo debate, as of NOW Messi is a lock. IF r7 wins the cup then he's the lock. At the end of the day it's apples and oranges.

Anyways I refuse to believe one trophy weighs more than 3, including 3 awards where BOTH the said players competed in and Messi won 3 of the 4. Again to me that's the only thing Ronaldo's fans can say, Messi scored more goals, has more assists, won more trophies, but hey Madrid won a champions. Also need I remind you guys that the 2 most recent times Ronaldo won the player of the year Messi was injured both seasons and played half the games? I mean look, all I'm saying is that most people would give Messi the award if it ended today, we still have the World Cup, Argentina most likely is our, so ronaldo has a great chance of doing more and getting the award, like I've said many times, I'd have no problem with that, but don't try to convince yourselves that one champions where he was irrelevant in the final holds more weight that every other thing Messi won compared to him. Anyways it's a never ending debate, carry on.
I mean, there are only 3 champions league caliber teams in Spain so placing/winning/scoring/assisting in spanish league/cup defnitely doesn't mean nearly as much as doing so in UCL, and Ronaldo had a pretty good run in the heavy hitters league, he won it. I think it is prety evident that 90% of the european teams set their main focus to the chapions league run, putting every other league in a secondary status. Anyway, time will tell, but to me unless a miracle happens and Argentina ends up doing very good at this world cup, to me, Ronaldo is a no-brainer for POY bc he has been better at everything that really matters so far.
Yeah I felt that too.. Firmino and Douglas Costa are playing much better than Jesus and Willian.. they should be starting the games.
