Rain and Noob are soft locks due to them being on various menus, making it 24/25 characters spoken for with one left.

So basically think along these lines, One spot left open. If not Shang Tsung, then who? Cause it ain't gonna be like fucking reptile or fujin or some shit.

I agree the final spot is mostly likely Shang Tsung but to answer your question. There are a few more characters that make sense for the final spot. First of all there is Smoke. Maybe that grey ninja we have seen on the menus isn't generic afterall. Also lets not forget about Takeda. If Jaquie and Cassie are coming back then he might come back aswell. Especially considering he was like the 4th most played character in MKX. Then there is Jax. He might tag alongside his daughter. Finally, how about Mileena? Perhaps the most popular female character in the franchise!
