The lack of interest in UMK3' - rant

Honestly, I don't know how people play the same game for years and years even decades with some of the older Street Fighter games. I get bored after a couple of years and more than likely the same will happen with Mkx.

I have umk on 360 original, 360mkak , ps3 mkak, pc mkak & mame .

I honestly like umk te and every event i go to l do play it but i dont play as much as i use to mainly because as much as i love it it gets boring unless u play different people as often as possible.

In addition yeah i jumped on the mkx band wagon and havent looked back but i would play online again a bit but i cant imagine putting in the time i did in the 90s arcade, xband and the original umk 360 drop.

With that said my name on psn/xbox and pc is edfig81 add me if u want a few games. Offline i wont travel out to an event just to play umk anymore no offense but if mkx is there and i have the funds then i will sign up if i am going. ..as it stands next event i plan on going to is nec 2015 or someblocal events in the tri state area that always have umk there.

I'm just waiting on MKX Tournament Edition, or Ultimate MKX. You know, with all characters included so we don't have to buy DLC... Give me back Smoke, Sektor and Noob I'd even like Stryker and Nightwolf. cuz why not.

just play the games you love. who cares how many people are playing it as long as there are people playing it

I plan on traveling again in the next 1-2 years, to wherever has the most offline players, I'm thinking Chicago Galloping Ghost Arcade or possibly Ohio? I'd love to play on a well kept UMK3 cabinet, and on MAME vs the pad players.

We have a modified MAME version that has the hacked MK roms added to the games list. If you want the + roms package PM me.

I have been playing offline, shoulder to shoulder MK since I was 13 years old and MK1 had just been released. It was a much more enjoyable time. None of this "online rage quitting/shit talking/general BS" that goes on nowadays....but....I live in Wichita, Kansas and always have. The offline community here is D-E-A-D. Online is my only option. Back when MK was big in the arcade, I would play random people, kick their ass, and they'd leave after one match. I understand because they don't want to keep losing money, but that really sucked for me because it made me spend a majority of my play time fighting the AI. That sucked. Very rarely would I ever encounter anyone of any caliber. They never stuck around either.

So flash forward 20 years and when I started going online to play MK, I got the ever-loving shit kicked out of me because I spent 20 years playing the AI and couldn't hold my own against real people. That's what living in a place like Wichita will do for you. There is absolutely no offline people around here so my skill dwindled terribly over the years to a point where I wasn't really any good anymore and I began to lose interest in even trying to get better against real people.

Yeah day 1 footage vs Konqrr and Reo. Reo had the game for a month or more in advance.

If this is the same guy i blocked on PSN he always goes for babalys, when i saw this video it totally turned me off from the new version of the game. I thought the jabs was supposed to be gone. What a douchebad.

As Rob said....good times all over but I moved on to 9 and X. Respect to everyone I got to play and chill with.

Once we resume umk3 modding and tweak it a bit/revert some bugs we'll begin pushing it again

I came to this site for UMK3 information, networking and tournaments, but from the way this sounds testyourmight doesnt support the non modified version of the game anymore ???

School is out not and I wanted to go play a real umk3 tournament this summer.

Does this also mean there is no more real UMK3 at tournaments any more ?
If it does that really F'n stinks, i love this game but online its always not the best to play because of delay.

I think it might be a good idea to go back to the old version of the game, i dont know anyone on my FL 100+ players that even play that version of the game. One guy was even calling it trashy edition. In fact does anyone actually play this version ?

I personally don't feel that there's anything wrong or needs to be changed with the original release of UMK3. Its a klassic and im a sucker for nostalgia.

the original version of the game is still supported. If and when there is a resurgence of interest in general, I don't see the site foregoing interest in vanilla UMK3, but I see at least 90% of the players enjoying the Tournament Edition enough to not bother much with the original. I fully expect and understand there to be people who will never even try the upgrades.

Curious, what all will be reverted or bugs worked out?
I know the low/high punch in the corner is a good idea but it just feels funny. And the sped up throw and recovery, especially for sektor, just feels broken.
Can scorpion have his kick starter mini pop up back? And human smokes air throw

Not sure if I would go so far as to call this fan made altering of the real game an "upgrade" LOL , and yes I have attempted to play this version as well and tbh its less balanced than the original imo, its pretty wonky not to mention the drastic changes to all the characters and the addition of way too many combos and attacks that were never there, the exclusion of many essential moves which also prohibit certain bnb's. Its not the same game, its false advertisement.

I miss old games sometimes too. Good thing there's games like MKX to keep things going.

I wonder what kind of tech would exist for Def Jam Fight for NY. I was unbeatable with Scarface, but that was just locally.

This thread wasn't made to bash on TE, so please understand that, @Shock . However there IS a lot of sentiment out there not all too different from what drak is saying.
I see no reason to make an early beta a tournament standard. Maybe once it's done and the not-select-few have a chance to get familiar.
The sub zero bros are gods now. Some characters have become viable - but then scorpion had his kick start mini popup removed because of 'too many options'. Why then did kitana get a five hit kick combo? 'Options and timing' was the answer I believe.
I'm not trying to tear the game down. I think a wider stream of input is needed when making changes to characters.
And make versions available either earlier to the general community, or later to the guys that demo. There's a lot of disparity there I feel like. Guys who just get a new version are gonna get bodied by guys who get it earlier, and that's discouraging. One guy is going to know every change and nuance through gameplay and will destroy and discourage someone who isn't so familiar.

hello everybody i join to you because i saw this thread and i want to say how much i love umk3 and T.E
i m a weak french player and i don t know all subtilities of changes in the hack and all advanced gameplay in v.s mode
but i love this game because i play against cpu(shame on me!) but i knew this game like this in the arcades (as mk1,mk2,mk3) ,no money to waste on vs mode,i have 3 credit,i must beat the game three times,and i can t play umk3 seriously for this...how to beat the game without robot smoke?
now i can beat the game with all characters and i proud of this! (8 years of training for my first one credit with sub zero!)
i have the arcade machine at home for this and i can t wait to put roms of T.E in board...
it s the wavenet edition ,but better!!!
