75% of the community may have been wrong, but 75% of the community still held concern. Instead of looking into that concern Wizard basically said "lol suck my dick EVO doesn't care", and then got SUCH a negative backlash he had to back-pedal and make the poll. His refusal to listen to the communities voice as a TO running an event for that community caused them to complain more to Boon about the nerfs that really didn't address anyone's complaints and just made Scorpion shitty instead.

Maybe EVO could've just nutted up and banned a DLC character that would've only had a month of exposure prior to their tournament, so that the community could've had time to let things flesh out, instead of scrambling to find fixes with such short time to prepare for the God damn World Championship, leading to all of this mess to begin with.

Garr123 I have stated several times I don't like how it was done, but I do agree w/the scorpion ban simply because his moveset does not match this game. Not every situation is about "level up scrub", and NRS nerfed him the wrong way as well

I don't understand why the "community leaders" didn't just push for the teleport to be adjusted to not cross up (have him fall from above or something instead). I know NRS is lazy and doesn't wanna rework animations and such ever, but that it all that really needed to be done. Then the character fits the rules of the game, and has his dirt just like most of the rest of the cast.

I for one never wanted him in the game because MK9 is still a fucking game... go play him in that. I wanna see DC characters in this game that are nice and original, not shitty ports of MK characters. People can say that's a stupid reason to not want him around, but I and a good majority of people don't really care... it's our opinion. I voted for him to be banned (not that anyone cares what I think) because both him and his teleport don't fit in this game, and I'll stick by that. I respect people that are sticking to their guns in either camp and people that have genuinely changed their minds after see how things played out, but everyone needs to chill the fuck out calling everyone out right now. If your character gets nerfed, say your piece for why you feel one way or the other about those nerfs, and either adapt to the changes, switch, or quit- those really are the only options... These never ending onslaughts of bullshit do nothing but hurt the community.

2. EVERY is an exaggeration, as this was ONE tactic of mine that I used to fight Scorpion specifically, but it didnt work. I don't regret is for a second as this has opened up my experimentation with MB B3 as a whole to find other uses for it. But no, it is not my "every" solution.

No one is using Scorpion last time I played, so I assume they're not jumping and teleporting. If random jumping and teleporting was blowing you up then you need to check yourself, and I say that as a filthy online warrior who has never had a problem with Scorpion unless they actually outplayed me like PL did (and how!).

The claim that Scorpion was just jumps and teleports is dumb as hell. I ended up with like a 70% winrate with him and hardly ever did that because decent players would blow me the hell up the first time I got cute. The only people who let me get away with clowning on them literally didn't know how to block and would eat ambiguous cross ups every time as well.

In the same vein the only people who let me Herculean Might as Shazam every wakeup are also bad. Gimmicks are gimmicks no matter how pissed they make you.

Edit: Go watch how PL played when people checked his Scorpion shenanigans CEO. You can't get away with bullshit once people have put time in the lab.

Didn't you play SCV for a while. Do you remember the whole Viola fiasco?

For those who don't know, there was talk of a ban in SCV of viola because she had the following things:
Frametraps anywhere on the screen
Mixups anywhere on the screen
Infinite off of a BLOCKED super
ToD combos from anywhere on the screen
Pretty safe on everything IIRC

I mean you want to talk about "breaking the game", Viola. She was not that hard to play just like Scorpion. In fact she was ten times worse than Scorpion. Yet they kept her legal(banned her infinite obviously) and she became a top tier character . Before SCV died there were a fair share of Nightmare's. Mitsu's and other characters winning majors besides Viola. So if that community can deal with that(Trust me, she was so much worse than Scorpion) then I think we can deal with Scorpion.

She was fucked up, still don't think she should have banned, just dramatically patched. She worked within the system (again, I feel all infinites should be banned) but Scorpion IMO does not have a moveset that belongs in IGAU.

Scorpion can cross you up over and over and over. Viola really can't cause certain chars (like Cervantes, maybe I'm biased) can pee on her if she tries to cross me up wrong. Plus it's a 3D game so I have more options on movement. Before the movement nerf, Cervantes dumped on her pretty hard IMO.

If you block the teleport he gets full combo punished. That may not stop him but it might after the 3rd of fourth time lol. As far as his j1/j3 stuff goes I usually just dash under him as that makes all Jump ins whiff along with both teles.

first and foremost scorpion is a BONUS character not part of the original cast. he, as well as all other dlc in all fighting games, should not be given a free pass into tournament scenes. we ALL know they dont get as much testing before release on like the original cast members, so why does the community even allow them to be played where money is on the line for at least 1 month after release? that is a recipe for disaster, as this entire scorpion drama showed

now this part is important: it doesnt matter AT ALL if you can beat scorpion. it doesnt matter AT ALL if he was the worst character in the game and every character beat his ass in the ground. what does matter is that his teleport move should NOT BE IN THE GAME, it is obvious from the first 2 min of touching the character. furthermore the OVERWHELMING majority of people who play the game do not have FUN with the game when he is being played (this is the #1 important thing about video games).

we are all paying customers, and the ONLY way we can protest our dislike is to not buy it (which isnt really a great option since you dont realize how much BS he is until you download him), or to raise concerns and ban him from tournament play. but according to you, he is in the game so we should just accept it and say nothing

i realize that people go way out of line with their bitching, and obviously rational discussions for these things is difficult, but you have said nothing helpful to the entire situation. finding ways to beat scorpion is not what we want, we want NRS to realize its not ok to throw someone into the game post release that makes everyone want to go throw up and not put the game back in.

it aint about balance, its about common sense and doing what the vast majority of people feel in their hearts is the right course of action

It was a good move, but I think merely spamming J3 tele was totally a gimmick. It was what made Scorpion strong, but throwing it out randomly was already starting to become a bad idea at CEO.

Ok. So that's it then? We're going to start banning based on what the majority thinks is fun or their ideals for how the game "should" be played. We're now building our own game? If that's the way it is so be it. Are we doing polls for each individual character? You tell us how that works.

Don't just say "it's common sense". We need standards and guidelines.

Capcom games generally stick to this philosophy and the devs actively resist patching and those are the most popular and hype games at any tournament, so I'm not sure why you're criticizing 16bit for not being down with reactionary nerfs before characters are fully understood.

The patch for SF4 has been in the works for ages and has been super transparent with an open dialogue with top players and careful analysis of tournaments and data from Japan's arcade scene. NRS patches in a month because people threw a fit on an internet forum before a tournament had even occurred.

Let's be real, the results of that poll were from:
- Watching REO clean up on the charity stream
- Watching primarily Tom and REO (because he was obviously considered an authority on the character) advocate a nerf to his MB TP punch or a ban pending said change.
- Reading AFG's post which featured more than the 4 you're trying to shame-blast advocating scorpion get banned / nerfed
- Confirmation bias. A lot of people felt Scorpion was broken. Seeing players considered among the elite of this games' players had the same believes tapped into feelings that were already there for a lot of the community
