How is that great news? I mean what kind of harm do cheaters do to warrant losing hundreds of dollars? That is going to lose a lot of sales as well. I mean I don't want to take the chance, the very notion is ludicrous. I don't necessarily hack or cheat... but if there is even a slight chance my account would be banned for no reason... I wouldn't be comfortable buying that system. I mean seriously... I can already hear the complaining now. I think there is a website called "Why Was I Banned" or something like that. Essentially everyone banned on Xbox that thinks they were banned unfairly submit their defense or whatever. Most of the participants obviously deserve to be banned. Some seem like they were banned for no reason. All I can say is the Microsoft better step up its system. I mean I don't think their current "ban" staff is contactable by phone only through that website. I mean that is ridiculous. They are going to have to submit some pretty detailed reasons as to why someone was banned if they go through with this bullshit. Currently they just give you the run around until you give up.

I am equating some things to bad timing, mainly the Kinect issue. This came at a very bad time, because of the NSA survelience leak and the PRISM thing, it also less in their favor for them being one of the companies involved in it as well. This DRM stuff I see the need for an authentication and the need to regulate the re-sale of games, due the installation requirement, it would make piracy worse without a regulation system. The 24 check though is a little overboard and really this has been biggest issue many have seen.

MS needs come clean and reveal what is going on, because thus far they have turned many against them left and right, I have even read a Military Times article that even suggests that military commanding officers are having issues with even considering allowing the purchase of the console simply because of a possible security risk to the service members, which just further adds to public's paranoia.

Sooooooooooo many things at one time.... technically they would have better chance hitting the lottery than all this shit hitting the fan all at once..... karma perhaps? :) It appears Microsoft is in a tailspin of its own causing.. and EVERYTHING that is said at this point only comes across to hurt more or be misunderstood..
Example: when the military issue came up about access to the internet and XB1 and Microsoft came forward and said.. you can still enjoy gaming on the Xbox360 as this is not an online needed console.. they were not trying to be disrespectful or rude.. it just so happens that at this time.. while they are waiting for technology to further, that is a viable option if you are an Xbox fan. The backside to this that very few are considering is... A large part of Land based Military (And again Spore, perhaps you can speak more to this... I cannot speak on Navy since it is its own different world) once deployed do not tend to bring the best of the best with them anyway.. Any deployment I have ever been on- there is such a thing as "field" commodities... a "field" cell phone, a "field" gaming device... by no means am I bringing my $800 smartphone into the desert, forrest or the like.. the "field" cell phone consists of an old junk flip phone that does what it suppose to... and if shot, blown up, soaked, or otherwise destroyed.. you are not out close to a paycheck. Just like I am not bringing my $600 next gen system to the same area. While many may say : but they have the right to bring PS3, PS4, Xbox blah blah blah, and should be able to have that right to bring a next gen system if they so want... While I do not disagree, I must say it is not always the most "intelligent" thing to do.

And as far as the military statement about security goes... security risk? Mmmmmm... more-so than todays smart phone? Facebook? Social Networking or the already and longest lasting potential- the internet.... I dont know about that... (that being the reasoning behind it). I think perhaps you Spore would be able to speak better of that as well.

Well simply coming from a security standpoint, I worked Intel. in the Navy and I currently work in the security management field, the XB1 poses a very real concern to people who hold clearances and work in sensitive positions, such as soldiers and sailors, so I can understand the military's concerns on the idea of the Kinect being forced, but I think their going to be a way to keep the thing limited on what it can do, but it doesn't full proof the possibility of it being highjackable, afterall your smart phone can easily without your knowledge be used to track and record information about you. It does fall into the category of paranoia and conspiracy theory, but for the military it is a concern, considering this console will likely be sitting in a service member's barracks room on base somewhere.

I think I addressed the security aspect in my other post. Now I assume you were Army, so yeah I do see your point, for sailors it is different, we get underway on a ship for the most part and many of us do bring our console on board, as I said before we use to gaming tournaments on the mess decks here and there, So I do see the outrage of the military, but most the outrage came from the comment about the nuclear sub, it just came out arrogantly, snide, and seemed really disrespectful to many.

Yeah it seems like its fesable and that's the issue..
I would rather have the military be safe than sorry...
Its like everything they thought would be a small issue people would need to get used to is turning into a snowball effect type deal...
If the military bans it how many people would see that as a massive red flag...

Army.. yep.. I knew it was 100% different which is why I never spoke for the Navy...
When you do cast off... your sitting in the middle of XYZ sea or ocean... how does internet work (if at all) same question to Smart Phone connection and the like as well? Ground pounders are at the mercy of their environment... if your in the middle of the sand box/woods where the closest 2 towns/ villages dont even have internet or any sort of connection- you are SOL.

The nuclear sub... hahahahaha... that comment was... smh... ever wonder how some of these guys make sooo much money with the type of shit that comes out of their mouths? Good thought... poor delivery, downright embarrassing execution.

That's the thing IDK...maybe because its so far advance of that stuff...(pscamera may be somewhat compatable but we don't know and its not required so it don't matter)...
Maybe its that its always on and listening...or that its saveing to the inet...
Or just perception that it is a info gathering tool...
Someone suggested to me that it may be because the military uses this sort of tech (advanced now but still)
And that having something comparable to what is used...infared/nightvision/heatbeat detecting/voice analizing and such pointed at them at several points inside facilities ...is just to much to let go..

Well the military only makes up about 1% of the population, but that doesn't mean them red flagging it only affects that particular group. It raise concerns to percentage of the public as well. Also the bad PR gets bad too, for their is a very large number of Military supporters out there as well the vets who still support the military as well as families of these people as well, so it can become a big issue, its not likely, but it can.

On the ship we had a limited connection to the point where it was good for mostly sending an e-mail home, but it was highly unreliable and there are times, where all outside communications has to be shut down.

Yeah this just pissed some military folk off especially the sub community, because well lets just say life on those things sux balls, hell you have to hot rack on one those things and your isolated for very long stretches of time with outside communication.

The difference between these devices and the Kinect 2, is that a Kinect 2 is required, in which case since it cannot be removed it poses that threat, i.e. a small threat, but a threat none the less, you being former military as well, know full well if it poses an issue it gets banned. We also both know that being in the service their are many products and places we are just not even allowed to buy or visit.

I think the security concerns are tiny, but to the public are noticeable. The nature of this device would make it unlikely the Intel. Analyst Bob isn't gonna be bringing his X-Box to work with him, that is gonna be the likely restriction.

I have to view this device at this angle it is part of my job to be up to date on what devices could pose issues for security, such as the new Google Glass, but that is much bigger than SN Timmy with his new XB1.

In my opinion the rude comments toward Xbox1 are cause Microsoft's business plan actually offends people including myself. Plain and simple. I hate to admit that 360 was the better console but more expensive in the long run than PS3. Price of the system was actually always in the Sony's favor. I think the porting problems ( i was wrong about that in the past) and the hack of PSN are the main concerns on the system. Hopefully, Sony has put measures in place to resolve those issues. I will buy PS4 because I like the company. Another example are Apple products that are great products but I dont approve of their company so I will not buy their product.

I am glad you pointed that out, the fact that it is always on and can view and record data based on multiple facets is why the military would likely view possible security concern. Damn you just out showed that security guy here.
