Thanks. Yeah, I wouldn't expect 200-400 either but I've got enough room for that many if needed.

T.V's shouldn't be a problem. I definitely have a 45 inch, 36 inch and probably more that can be used on the side. The projector screen is at least as big as the ones at Evo lol. In case anybody wants more entertainment there is basketball, ping pong and possibly a rock wall to use.

But if I actually went through all the work for this I would definitely want it to be pretty big. Since we're close to NC, Atlanta and some other East coast players I figured it was a possibility worth considering.

What I would do is message people on the forums and personally on this site to figure out about the possibilities of others showing up from longer distances. I'm not really sure if there are already scenes in the cities you mentioned, but I would bank that there are. Bringing something of that magnitude together would be insanely tough, but extremely fun. For my casuals on Monday, I will bring up what you have mentioned. I can give you a better picture of what to expect that way. I don't expect to have that many show up, but the more opinions on something like this the better. I would definitely support you in any way that I can, and I'm sure that friends of mine that play COD would be interested in something of that magnitude around here also.

Basically bring all the people you know would participate together and others like me to discuss what we can do to grow a scene like that. It would have to be done in person for sure, but it's very possible, especially with the support that I already have at G2K in Johnson City before we have even started. I'm excited about growing something. Not sure how long I'll be around here but I've got a few more years left, and by the way we are talking, this will take a year or so to get poppin.

Let me know how I can help in any way and I'll do everything I can to get the word out and bring people together.

Concerning the casuals...we are still on at G2K Monday the 10th @6. Let me know if that time is ok for you guys because I can possibly work something out later. I just have to talk to the manager because the store closes at 8. He doesn't have a problem staying open late for us, but if there is only gonna be two guys showing up, what's the point in extending his evening after graciously letting us have the space for free? Holla at me if you are coming so I can have enough supplies for us all, pm or post it here. It would be extremely helpful. Right now, you guys don't need to bring anything unless you want to. I don't anticipate needing any more than two systems right now, so your own pair of sticks would be helpful. We are playing on the PS3 by the way. No copies of the game are neccessary either. Just bring some sticks if you want and the will to get stomped!!!!! Lol....just kidding, but seriously, bring your entire family and cats and dogs so that we can get this thing growing and something special. \

Decent showing tonight. Wasn't expecting much in the first place, but, for the first week it's ok. We gotta have more though man!!!!! Tomorrow will be a tournament at G2K...buy-in is 3 bucks. Not bad at all...See you guys there tomorrow and every Monday after. Cmon guys, lets get a little something off the ground!

Good to hear man, keep it up! How many people do we have around here that are decent? :)

If you're ever able to do G2K on Friday night or Saturday then I can come, but otherwise I'm not around

Ill see what's going on tomorrow (today) at the tournament about the weekends. They hold Magic card tournaments (pretty sure) every Friday and Saturday. I talked to the manager and Saturday would be a possibility, and being that not many showed up, we could definitely consider moving to a more convenient time. Would just have to work something out around Magic or possibly with them. Dunno how that would work out.

Honestly, the competition is probably the weakest. Lol...not to bad mouth anybody, but I main Sub, and I have never seen so many jumps into clones in my life. They can be easily read if you are really trying, but it got to the point that I was just picking characters such as Baraka in order to keep the games -semi-competitive. Most of the time they really couldn't even handle Baraka. I don't really know how much of that is element of surprise, not thinking there would be any good players around here, but not poking at all (lol) is considered to be pretty poor in my book. Cross up jumps don't happen offline every time.

Not giving up though. Like I told the manager, the best players probably didn't come. I would consider anybody that is on this forum to be an ok/decent player simply because they know a little bit about what's going on with the match-ups and playstyle, and we didn't get anybody from TYM to show. You and Loot need something to happen on the weekend and that's completely understandable, so I will do my best to get something worked out for THIS weekend...either the 14th or 15th. The manager probably will not mind...he is extremely supportive of what I'm trying to do with this "scene" and he will more than likely help in any way possible. The only reason I did not hold it on the weekend to start is because he specifically suggested Monday or Tuesday because those are the days that he works. An assistant manager can be present, but for the first week, I wanted the top dog to be there in case there was something that happened that was out of my control.

In any case, I'll talk to him tomorrow and give this thread an update right when I get the news or right after the tournament. Weekends would be perfect...maybe we can get guys out there that don't eat 40% combos for a living. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the best but some of the stuff I was seeing...cmon! Hope to see you in the future!

Haha I know how you feel. I play with my neighbor occasionally and he at least understands pressure, meter, etc. He'll probably be down to come this weekend.

Were you at the GameStop tourney on People Street on MK9's opening day? We might have met :D

I'll be in Knoxville this weekend; if there's something going on at G2K before the 18th, I'll make the drive out there and drag along a buddy (or a few) that are good/decent at MK.

@ Seapeople : I actually did go to the midnight release for MK at Gamestop...only thing, I don't remember which one I went to, Market St. or People St.

And yeah, I don't think these guys understand basics too much...you can see the overuse of meter to basically get lucky on the landing of a combo. Also, baiting a Sektor player to throw a teleport should not happen 100% EVERYTIME. But at least they are not calling the game or me cheap or broken or lame. That would definitely just make me wanna throw the controller out of the store and kill somebody...jk (a little serious though :boohoo:)

In all seriousness, we will 100% have something going down on Monday 17th. I will get back to you very soon (by 9pm tonight) to let you know if anything is happening this weekend. If I can get something Friday or Saturday, that will be the day(s) to come in. We got a couple people on here (Seapeople and Loot mainly) that want something on the weekend to be able to work around schedules. So, stay tuned for an update tonight and can't wait to battle.

@ Loot : That is completely understandable. I know how that stuff goes, especially if you are going to school full-time. Priorities are priorities so stick to them. No hate in my blood. Hopefully I can get something going this weekend though. Get some people in that know what they are doing and can get this place hype!!!!!!!!!!!! :headbang:

I laugh but I cry at the same time....that sucks. I'll keep all the options open though. Weekends are probably better for everyone anyway and we can keep Mondays going because the store doesn't have anything going on. If anything the occasional meetup at a house wouldn't be bad for the sake of offline MK (YUSSSSSSS!....Napoleon Dynamite). Whenever you can show up drop me a message or post here bro. As always the more the merrier.

Just think...fall break and holidays you can possibly get a few days in. And summer, although very far away. No tease intended!

Oh ok, I'm pretty sure I was at People Street. I ended up winning it Subby.

I'll be here a lot more in December though since it's Christmas break

@ Loot : Tuesdays (more than likely) are possible. Just have to talk to Greg. We could cancel Mondays, pick up Tuesday, and try for a day on the weekend to get the most people involved.

@ Seapeople : I definitely went to Market St. then. I didn't play in any midnight tournament...would have went to Peoples if that was the case. And no excuse during break...BE THERE!!!!! :dance:

I'm about to leave the house right now...I don't know exactly when it starts because this event is sponsored by the store. It has nothing to do with our scene or casuals.

Ha no worries....I haven't played much either and if I do pick up the sticks...its online.

Lol...not sure again, but I would bring your pad anyway. I'm going to bring my PS3 console and two pads just for side games or something or if the turnout isn't any good. Bout to fix a sandwich and head out though...See you there!
